Hi! & thks!
Actually, Lee Ron won 2nd prize for the Dress Me Up competition. This is where the handler and doggie has to put on all the items (cape, hat, gloves, eye patch etc..) as fast as possible. Was pleasantly surprised at the results honestly.
Pepper came in 3rd for the Best Trick. The 1st prize went to the Goldie that can balance a treat on it's nose, flick it up and catch it in its mouth. Neat trick. Also, do the "Bang! Play dead" . 2nd prize went to the lovely pom that won the audience over by running straight into its owner knapsack! Cool!
Kangser and Nous came in 1st for the Bonus prize in the dogathon..where you have to collect as many red / yellow flags placed along the dogathon route.
Daphne and Teddy ran like the wind and won 1st in the women category for dogathon.
Me..I was just happy to finish. Uncle arthur is not young any more.. Even with Lee Ron and Lee Sha pulling me along..
All in all, a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. Weather was beautiful!

Hi Ivan!
Yes, I did talked to the lady with her 2 lovely black poms. She's (Linda) also a member of this forum. If all goes well, she'll be entering her poms in the coming AKU show in Aug17th (Selayang Mall, KL) Do come up and introduce yourself next time, look for a tall guy wz schnauzers!
Our webmaster KhooBG is in charge of the T-shirts. He's still has them with him.

Age is catching up. Quite tired and leave about 30 minutes earlier.
Dogathan seem to be funs for many. One of ths shortfall were girls at the registration booth who ask many to fill in a survey form by saying that they will received a bottle of Frontline Spray. That turned out to be a false promise and using such tactics to gain ppl opinion and information is definitely not appropriate.

Mr Khoo, Age definitely got nothing to do with it.... I too left abt 12.30. Terry and Mocha was really tired till even Mocha fell asleep on the mat ! Once she reached the car, she went to zzzzzland all the way !
Oh yeah...of the frontline's tactic it was really unprofessional of them to give all of us false promise. They too told me that we will be able to get a small bottle of frontline free and when i go there to collect the free bottle the girl told me... juz bring ur dog and we'll spray it on for you.

Hey button, its not hard to handle to JRTs ler. Just need to be abit fierce and scold them whenever they are trying to be naughty. Some physical punishment too. But get ready for chaos when they play in your living room

Hey,
The Dogathon was great. The dog that won in the best trick event is my friend's lab named Puddles. In fact this is the second time she won! We were so proud Puddles managed to 'retain' her title To bad i didn't bring my camera. This year's prize has gotten better. They gave a big bag of Alpo dog food, but Puddle's is not on Alpo ler Anyway, not complaining

Silky was a disgrace to the dogs..lol..can't find a treat in the grass! j/k she was really bored/hot/tired,wanted to go home and she didn't really like the treat..so didn't do very well.
I missed Pepper's performance. What trick did she perform?
Congrats to Kangser,Nous, Daphne and Teddy too! ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)

Hi Michele

Hi Snowflake!
AKU stands for Asian Kennel Union. Only Asian countries are members eg. Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand etc... The reason most exhibitors will bring out their best dogs to show is that if their dog wins the best in group or reserve best in group title, they will automatically be awarded an Asian champion title as well. Nice huh?
Keep an eye out for this event in the Dog Show and Championship forum.

Hi Ber,
Yes, I remember Puddles from last year dogathon. Very clever doggie and owner. Rest of us just have to try harder next time to learn new tricks! Since Puddles is a lab, why don't you ask your friend to teach something that uses her natural retreive instinct?

Hi there RealityDreamer..
Pepper did normal shake hands, roll over, sit pretty (2 paws up together), walking on her 2 hind legs and something from her obedience training..a "down on recall" excercise.
Was Silky the 1st retreiver to go in? Where she was supposed to grab the treat in mid-air? The audience was very supportive of her efforts! Maybe next year she should try the same trick again, this time with her favourite treat..

Hi Gina,
So that was Cin Di! I say man, me so blur like sotong lor.. I recall seeing this famous trick back in Penang PISA (Dec 2001) during the states national obedience trails championship. Very cool trick! The audience loved it!
We went back around 1pm after all the ceremonies..waited for Daphne to collect her grand prize! Had lunch with Andy and Carynn. Reached home by 3pm, started our assembly line routine..brush, untangle, bath, blow-dry all 3 furkids before we can even take our baths.. Whew! Finally collapsed by 5pm.
How's Biscuit doing? Hope he's back to his normal energetic self again..

That's really cute..
Silky's the black and white terrier cocker spaniel mix. I told her stay, moved away, tempted her with the treat, drop it on the floor.Went back to her, circled her, finally told her to get it. She did go to the area where the treat was but couldn't find it eventhough she was sniffing really madly.

Biscuit is better now...he was very quiet during the morning and Cin Di gave me some of those homeopathic meds and he was much better by the end of the day....during the run at the 2nd round he stopped for awhile and didn't wanna go on anymore....good for me also coz gave me a chance to breathe! I was panting like hell kekekeke now i know why they call me ah ee
We didnt get a chance to really rest after we got home...fed the dogs, showered and off to Mid Valley then straight on to dinner after that....what a hectic, tiring but exciting weekend
