Hi. Don't mind me, but I'm a 3rd year veterinary student from the organising committee of Dogathon 2003. I chanced upon this forum when I was surfing the net. I've noticed that there are some information posted that are not complete, and that a new event has been added.

First, I want to announce that there is a another event that was not in the pamphlet. It's called the Bonanza Prize. This event is open only to non-competitive participants. As you all know, dog owners that have not registered for the Dogathon Race are also allowed on the track to enjoy the walk, and they are eligible for the prize. To win, all you must do is to collect as many red flags as possible along the Dogathon Race track. The person with the highest number of flags wins the Bonanza Prize.

Another thing is that the Fancy Dress and Best Dressed Duo events are both being held. They will be ongoing events, with participants mingling with the crowd. Judges will be walking around to judge them. So, dress up your dog to look like you, or just dress your dog up to the nines.

hi zoey,

for those who did not register for the dogathon race, what can they do?can they still join and walk around with others? how do i register myself??do i register on that day at 7am or i could register in aother way? and then if i'm late at that day, let's say maybe around 8 something..can i still register?sorrry for all the questions ya...thanks

No trouble. I'll be glad to answer your questions. The registration counter is open at 7am. The race itself will begin at 8.30 am. The cutoff point to register is 20 mins before the race. Even if you don't register, you can still be on the track to enjoy the walk and collect red flags along the way to win the Bonanza prize. You have to register on the day itself as registration by money order has already ended.

There will still be more field games to play if you missed the Race itself.

Registration is for competitive owners i.e it is really a race, not a fun walk. The winner of the Dogathon Race wins the main prize as it is our main event. The Bonanza Prize is a prize for those who didn't register as competitors. Both competitors and non competitors are allowed on the Dogathon track. Of course, competitors are serious to participate in the race, and the non-competitors can just enjoy the walk.

I hope this clarifies the issue. Sly

Can just say that I'll be one of the easiest to spot on that day. Just please don't start throwing rotten eggs and foodstuff at me. Also, please forgive us if we are a bit harried, most of us have exams the very next day, and the whole of next week too. Unsure

Dear zoey,

Thanks 4 ur reply, so do we also need to collect red flags in order to win the main prize? tat means we need to run on the track? or just walk is enough?

No. Registered competitors need only concentrate on the race and negotiating obstacles. The Bonanza Prize and collecting red flags are only for non-competitors (people who did not register but joined the competitors on the Race track).

For competitors, if you're serious in winning the race, then run! If not, then you can have a leisurely jog or walk. But then again, the whole purpose of being a competitor is to vie for prizes right?

Hope this clarifies things. Wink

wow, the dogathonwas great!!..my ritchie had a lot of fun there..he even got me to buy him ice cream!!..and he had two!!!!..hahaha..well couldnt get to see where all the puppycom members gather..i only managed to spot one here n there.ehehe all scattered around..well with all the dogs n owners..it;s sure lost in the crowd..had anyone see the two black pom??it was gorgeous!!...well guess everyone had fun there and dirty as welll!!.. Blush

Glad you had fun over at the Dogathon. This has been my 3rd time there so far.. Smile

Great place to meet new friends and see all the lovely doggies..

A lot of us there entered for the events and many were pleasantly surprised. This picture belows says it all...

Picture below: Daphe came 1st in the women dogathon.. Way to go Daphne and Teddy ( Mini-schnauzer) Smile

Last but not least, Lee Ron has another new admirer..Mary! AdamChooi..remember your promise to Mary at the end of the year! (Joking only!! Smile

yeah, i missed the dogathon too. Doodle slept like a log today. He was so tired chasing all the dogs. We were too tired to even walk him.
