Hi there Shalmay! Actually, I met your dog who's name is Canon right? The groomer girl was walking him that day when he was boarding with her. No, she never did purposely choke him or anything like that. Canon was kinda like pulling all over the place while we were talking & she was just holding on to him tightly & then asked him to sit (which he did). I know this groomer girl coz I have brought my dogs there a few times already for bathing. We live in Puncak Jalil, quite near to the groomer's place & Baby Pets. Honestly, dogs being boarded anywhere eventhough being caged or not caged, some will tend to fall sick. Common symptoms are, flu, cough, vomiting, lost of appetite & fever. Some will go home very tired too & will sleep throughout the whole day. The reason, it is just plain stress. The dogs that board at our place are not caged & they are all happy, running around & playing with each other. Eventhough they are happy & having so much fun, they are still stressed up becoz of the different environment & timetable. Some have gone home sick before but none are dead. They still come back for boarding with us becoz the owners understand that the sickness was not purposely caused by us. When boarding dogs at vets or anywhere else where the dogs will be caged 24/7 or even half a day, these things are to be expected. The cages are uncomfortable as you can see & the cages tend to make the sog's elbows look icky. Sometimes, when caged too long, the legs become weak & wobbly. I know you boarded your dog for about a month right? The groomer told me. The reason why your dog fell sick was not becoz of the groomer's rough handling. Canon was wearing a soft collar. Even if she did choke him, he would have not gotten a cough. Heck, I jerk my dogs all the time with a choke chain & they're fine. He got sick becoz possibility no.1: He was mixed around with other dogs & one of them was sick & the germs were passed on to him. No.2: He was just so stressed up in a place where he's cage almost 24/7 a day for 1 month & then all these dogs were barking their heads off & making so much noise. There could be many reasons why he got sick. But I feel it was becoz of all the stress than anything else. It has got nothing to do with the groomer's rough handling... To tell you the truth, being at the vet's, being caged up is very very stressful for the dog. Was this his first time boarding too? If it was, this could have also caused him to fall sick. Stress + depression... So next time, if you really don't want these things to happen to him again, board him at a place where they don't cage dogs at all. But there's still a 30% chance that he will fall ill again. But it's nothing serious. Sometimes it's not the boarder's fault either if the dogs fall ill. But usually owners will scold the person who's taking care of the dog becoz that person is the one responsible for the dog during that certain duration of boarding. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here. Anyway, I'm sure he's fine now right? It's not a big problem. It's just a small thing...
