Hi All,

Here's some of my pup's pictures....hehe. I'm changing his food to "Addiction" Kangaroo & Apple dry food. Hope it works well with him as I see some skin problem (Lesser hair areas on the back and pimple like bald spots) which the vet says has no infection but might be due to food. Anyone here has the same experience before? Please gimme some advice as this is my first time having a bulldog. Thanks.

Best Regards...

Re: [spencer's] THE BULLDOG STATION [In reply to] Can't Post

hi spencer,

nice bully you have there.. How old is he anyway..? i use to feed him blackwood 3000 but now i've changed it to blackwood catfish & potatoes.. kinda expensive but think its the best in the market for sensitive skin... my bully also used to have lumps on his skin and according to vet, its due to his food.. so thats why i changed it... anyway, all dogs are different... so you should just stick to 1 brand if its not giving your bully any problem... and remember to give him suppliment during his puppy year to build up his immune system...

Hi Maxrs,

Thanks.....my bully is now 10 weeks old (2 and a half months), I'm also giving him some supplements of Organic Omega 3 and 6 with his "Addiction" Kangaroo and Apple dry food now for a few days already and it seems that the thin hair area on his back is starting to dissappear. I'm currently thinking of giving him some Brewer Yeast too as advice by a breeder. Hope the new dry food suits him.....

How many bully do you have and how old are they? Are there any bulldog owner's club or meet-ups in KL? Sure helps to learn more about this breed......kinda special overall (Care & Needs, temperaments and behavior) compared to my other breeds...

Best Regards,

Hi Spencer's,

Do bring your dog for a walk on tar road or field to build up their proper leg structure. Looks at your dog's leg is slightly open wide from the picture you shared, hope that is not.
For the skin problem, you might need to aware if you leave your dog outside of your garden where they might sit/ lay on anywhere in your garden. Make sure your garden is clean, with no detergent/ cleaning liquid on the floor (the place your dog likes to sit/lay); no rough surface or too hot surface; all these might cause the skin problems.

Re: [lintjong] THE BULLDOG STATION [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the tips you gave....will look into it. You said my dog's "legs" are slightly wide open, do you mean the "toes"? or the whole leg? He was kept in the cage before I took him home and now he is running a lot on cemented floors and my garden (grass). If you are talking about the toes, it was quite open up before this but now it's getting better and recovering.

About the skin problem, maybe it's due to the place where he usually sleeps at night (his favourite place). It's actually a small storage compartment near my garden where I store some organic plant fertilizers, maybe it's due to that. I'll look into it.....thanks for the tip. After the food change, the skin on the back (less hair area) is getting better now...the place with the most pimples (or bumps) is on the hip area at the rear legs.... hope they will go off soon too...

Best Regards,

Re: [spencer's] THE BULLDOG STATION [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Spencer,

I did some researce on our bulldog problem, the bumps and rashes is actually what they called Eczema problem. It it kind of non-parasitic infection that commonly happen to bulldogs. It may be caused by food, environment and the dog itself.

Anyway, the remedies is simple:- 1. Make sure your dog is well kept dry and cool area.

2. Get yourself a Hydrocortisone 1% cream for the bumps.

3. Bath the dog with bath oil which contains emmoline..which is

good for the dog's skin to maintain it's moisture.

For time being, tht is what I did with my Bulldog, he is getting better and I hope it works with you BD too. Cheers..

Re: [benjovi] THE BULLDOG STATION [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Benjovi,

Thanks for the info, I had been doing some research on this issue for the past few days and you are right, it's eczema. I think it's due to the hot weather here recently for the past weeks that these bumps seem to multiply. It may not be the food as I'm feeding him food without the ellergens that most dog might get allergy from (example: soy products, wheat product and by products, etc.....in the ingredients). The bumps seems to come and go but it's getting better now. I bought a shampoo specifically for this also today and will try it out soon.

He's much better now after the food change, the slight hair loss on his back and the bumps on his hip is dissappearing fast and his skin and coat does looks better. I'm also adding supplements of Omega 3 and 6 oil in his food and also giving him Brewer Yeast Tablets everyday to help build a good foundation on his skin and coat as he grows.

Now more wrinkles on his face and body as he grows, looking good...hehe. Thanks again bro.

Best Regards.

Bulldog back on top 10 dog list after 75 years

By Robert Campbell Wed Jan 16, 1:07 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Bolstered by its popularity with celebrities and families, the Bulldog is back on the list of the 10 most popular purebred dogs after a 75-year absence, the American Kennel Club announced on Wednesday.

The Bulldog ranked 10th in the Kennel Club's annual ranking of popular dogs from the 157 different breeds it recognizes.

Topping the list of most popular dogs was the Labrador Retriever -- top dog since 1991 -- followed by the Yorkshire Terrier, the German Shepherd, the Golden Retriever and the Beagle, the Kennel Club said.

The broad-shouldered, stocky Bulldog with its characteristic under-bite and pugnacious gait has long been a mascot of sports teams and military units.

But their docile, even-tempered personality that belies their tough-guy image makes them good pets for families with young children, dog breeders say.

"Their personality is unlike any other dog. They are so expressive. If you look in their eyes you can almost see what they are thinking," said Tammy Hollock, 36, a part-time Bulldog breeder from Delran, New Jersey.

Bulldogs have been growing in popularity with celebrities including U.S. actors Adam Sandler and George Clooney, adding to their public appeal, Hollock said. The breed is the second-most popular dog in Los Angeles, the Kennel Club said.

The growing popularity of the Bulldog has a downside, according to Hollock and officials from the Kennel Club. Bulldogs can suffer from breathing problems and should only be treated by experienced veterinarians.

They are also unable to swim and breeders typically use artificial insemination and Caesarean sections when breeding the dogs to reduce the high risk of injury caused by the large size of the dog's head in proportion to its hips.

The elaborate precautions required when breeding Bulldogs puts the cost of a typical purebred bulldog puppy at $2,800, Hollock said.

Coming in at No. 6 on the Kennel Club list is the Boxer, followed by the Dachshund, the Poodle and the Shih Tzu.

Dog show organizer prepared the "party" place for those "participants". Good idea.

These 4 bulldogs are adopted by these 3 gentleman and lady. Cool huh? Bulldog also can be adopted.
