DOG2BIKE Spring Coil . (
CHROME –PLATED )
Dogs rarely exercise on their own , and owners have little
time to do so .
DOG2BIKE
spring coils meet both objectives – owners can now
exercise themselves ,and with their dogs on their bicycles
, under controlled conditions ( of safety ) , within their
time constraints .
DOG2BIKE spring coils absorb a certain degree of the force
normally associated with dogs’ sudden tugging and pulling
. This will enable the biker sufficient time for his
reflexes to make the necessary compensating movements to
maintain balance .
Simple assembly , with high quality chrome-plating , makes
this DOG2BIKE Spring coil a life-long investment for the
development and health of both dogs and owners .
( Naturally , a skillful adult biker and an obedient dog
are required as a ‘safe’ team )
Great as a gift !

Assembly to your bike : |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Remove the nut
on the desired side of the back axle and assemble the unit
as follow :
The unit
should be assembled under the wheel axle nut and always
with any washers on the outside of this unit’s bracket for
a good balance . It is highly recommended that the spring
coil be fixed onto the right side of the bike to
facilitate the dog being protected against any on-coming
vehicles when cycling against the flow of traffic ( ie.,
on the ‘ right ‘ side of the road ).
To prevent the bracket from rotating , put the 5mm bolt
into one of the two parallel holes in the bracket .
There should
be two ropes with clasps , both of which are to be
attached to the dog’s collar or harness .
One of these ropes ( with 2 clasps ) should be hooked
to the loop end of the Spring coil .
This rope should be short enough so that the dog’s
forepaws do not come under the front wheel .
The second rope is to be tied ( bowline knot ) , or hooked
by another clasp , to the bike’s main frame at a suitable
length to prevent the dog from changing sides .
Important .
Safety and control , dictate that there should be a strong
leash also attached to the dog to control the dog in the
event that it pulls beyond the ‘ flexibile distance ‘ of
the spring coil . This is also to comply with Municipality
regulations that dogs must be leashed when taken outside
houses . Dogs should be allowed to ease themselves ,
and cycling done only after they are calmed down from the
excitement of being released from their kennel.

Controlled Cycling with your dog |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Dogs rarely
exercise on their own . Exercise is essential for a dog’s
health and muscular development .
Biking with your dog is a most time effective form of
exercise for both owner and his dog . With this form of
bonding , dogs will have less energy for negative
activities like digging and chewing your
favourite items .
Cycling should be restricted to :
-
Dogs above eight (8) months old
-
Areas of low vehicular traffic
flow .
-
Pace and distance should be
gradual , starting at 1.5 km
every alternate day , up to 4km
per session for the fit &
competitive dogs . Always at
dog’s pace .
-
Adults who have good cycling
skills and control and
with dogs that are obedient and
below 25kgs .
-
Other safety precautions like
wearing of safety /
reflective vests , and cycle
helmets , knee &
elbow pads , and shoes .
-
Common sense must prevail at all
times .
-
Cycling should be done only
after the dogs have been calmed
down from their excitement of
being released from the kennels
.
-
No feeding at least 1 hour
before or after cycling .
-
A 5 feet long strong leash
should be attached to the
dog’s collar as a safety
precaution .
-
It may be better to cycle on the
right side ( against the traffic
flow ) so that you can see on-
coming traffic . The dog
should be on the road kerb /
side , shielded from the
cars by your bicycle.
