Agility & Obedience Training
Puppy.com.my has
imported the first set of competition standard Flyball
equipment from UK in the month of September 2006 and is
now ready to offer Flyball training in Malaysia.
Flyball is a team
sport for dogs and their handlers. It was invented in
California in the late 70's. It is loud, full of energy,
and fun for all involved - the dogs, handlers, judges, and
spectators.
Dogs of all shapes, sizes,
breeds, colors, and ages can participate in flyball. Dogs
with high drive for ball are in particular very suitable
for Fly Ball Training.
The course consists of a
starting line, 4 hurdles spaced 10 feet apart and a box.
The first hurdle is 6 feet from the start line and the box
is 15 feet from the last hurdle, for a 51 foot overall
length. At tournaments, the start line is outfitted with a
line of red, yellow, and green lights, similar to what you
would see at a drag race.
It is best to think of
Flyball as the following chain of events:
- Release the dog
- Jump over first hurdle
- Jump over second hurdle
- Jump over third hurdle
- Jump over fourth hurdle
- Approach box
- Hit box to release
tennis ball
- Catch tennis ball
- Turn
- Return over fourth
hurdle
- Return over third hurdle
- Return over second
hurdle
- Return over first hurdle
- Cross finish line
