Hiya

Am new in dog showing, but planning to try at the next show in Malacca. How many classes does one dog enter usually? Am planning to bring my puppy Luckey for the Minor Puppy, and my dog Juno (maybe). But Juno I think is eligible for quite a few classes, so am not sure how many or which ones to enter. She has also never shown before, so it will all be new to her.

I think she's eligible for Maiden and Mal.Bred. And might be eligible for Junior (although just, as she's nearly two I think).

Any tips?

Hi Luckey,

How many classes a dog can enter really depends on the breed, owner, and competition. You can enter as many classes as possible as long as your dog applies to the condition of each class. Eg. Your dog that is less than 2 years old, bred in Malaysia and never being shown could enter Junior, Maiden, Open and Mal. Bred.

What exhibitors concern is every show is to win CC (points for their Malaysian Champion title). To win a CC, a dog will have to win in either 1 class except Minor Puppy. If the breed is large, then owners will usually enter 1 class or 2. Basically, if you enter 4 class, and being winning the first three classes, and at the fourth class, if you are beaten then you will not be in the CC line up (competing for CC).

My Shih Tzu bitch could enter two classes such as Junior and Open, but I just enter one. I don't think it is necessary to enter so many classes. If the judge likes your dog, he will put him/her up even if its Mal. Bred.

Thanks for your good advice! I think I will only bring my puppy to this first show, so it's not too much for me to handle... will see how the dog show goes and might bring my dog Juno to the next one too. Are you going to be there?

So Arthur will be there too? and Webmaster Khoo? COol! Should be a nice party down in Malacca. I think our puppies will be coming down in full force, but all of us handlers are totally new to this game!

two of the pups we found homes for are coming also with their new owners.. so you might see lots of cockers in the puppy class Smile

Im still consider beginner lah. Any way, there was alot of expert in grooming Cocker Spaniel on that day lah.

you will enjoy urself on that day.

Anyway, my gf's will handle my puppy for this coming show, since she mention she was in her home town and it "maybe" will bring some luck to her.HAHAHAHWink
