Hi all, I own a gsd and she is abt 10 month old. Well, she have a problem. She pees when I want to hit her for being naughty. (When I say hit, I don't mean hitting her hard but using a roll up paper).
Sometimes, she just pee when wanting to play with me.
Some dogs are prone to submissive urination ie they'll tend to pee whenever they're scare, excited, happy, etc. I have one to at home too.
If your dog gets excited, ignore him for about 15 - 20 minutes. Hopefully, this will make him less excited and teaches him that he has to be calm before a play session.
Whatever you do, please don't punish him as this will make him pee more for being scared/excited.
I think your GSD is peeing as a sign of submission, hoping that you will not punish her.
Perhaps u could try training her positively or find something else unplesant to punish her like an annoying sound or squirting water into her face. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
try positive training....reward the behavior that you want so you could reinforce that and just ignore the behaviors that are undesire..... so you don't have to hit her for being naughty....
*Hmmm* ... sorry, but I think it's not your GSD puppy that has a problem ...
You puppy (as RealityDreamer says) is exhibiting submissive urination ... most likely because she is frightened of being hit with rolled up newspapers ...
Please understand - a young dog gets frightened very easily ... and the fear you instill now may remain with the dog all its life ... a frightened dog can be difficult to train, difficult to socialise ... difficult to control ... may exhibit fear biting tendencies ... and the list goes on ...
So, if I were you - I'd seriously think about unrolling the newspaper and reading it - that's what newspapers are for ...
And after unrolling the newspaper ... please check the forum & the internet for submissive urination, it's causes and how it can be overcome ...
Cheers
