It's the same pic. on last weeks SUN paper.

May be I try at home...
Petra and Amor can be the dogs and some of us can descend from the chopper.. Then we have the Malaysian version.....

There was a similar thing on Astro showing a Malinois training for the Austrian special forces 'COBRA'.

Hi Boon,

I think they used quite a no. of working breeds. But if I m not mistaken, Austrian Army breed their own service dog & 70-80% of those used to be Rottweilers, but I m not so sure wht is the situation now ! Unimpressed

Based on my reference the former Austrian military dog school (MILHUSTA) started wt GSD from but then began to use more & more Rott and even start breeding them for their own use.

Even some of the former leading Rott from Germany such as the great "Dingo V Schwaiger Wappen" can be trace back to them. Smile

Hahahah.... Bungee Jump.... can bounce back???TongueWink

I saw the same pics shown in SUN last week.
BUT what's the main purpose??? does it exhibit the purpose of "training"?? I think it's purely for demonstration to entertain the crowd by doing something that's extra-ordinary.

Its normally for special forces to be dropped beyond enemy lines. The dogs must have very good nerve and training to do that. Even we have phobia of heights.
So if the dogs are nervy and they'll be yapping and struggling then all of them will be tangled up and the whole elite team will be sitting ducks...

Also good for entertainment...

Hi,

,
In addition to what Azman has mentioned, the other reason they use a copter, could also be for "fast" deployment during emergency like onto top of a building for eg. !Wink

Azman,
with ref to ur post at the other thread, I will definitely take up ur offer to chk out ur dogs once the opportuniy arises Blush.....hmmm ....maybe one of the coming festive holidays....., so Boon, , PSD.....what abt U guys ...interested for a meet-up session in KL...? ? Tongue

BTW Azman,...no need to get a bitesuit la !.....remember we have Boon what ! Tongue....just let him wear a few more layer of clothes la..! ! Laugh....Dun worry Boon, I'll be rite there to back U up...! ! Laugh

So Boon, maybe U should seriously consider of bringing in some protection training equipmentss , la...! ! Wink

Mackie,

What Azman says is true. The key is all in the Nerve and temprement. Otherwise they may even die of a heartattack from the descend....lolTongue On a serious note, a dog that has that nerve of steel will be a super dog anywhere and everywhere be it Police, military, guard, sports or even a plain pet dog.Smile

Azman,

Need some bones for Amor, maybe can get Mackie to do it. She uses to offer herself as the bait. Claims to have good padding too....har har!Tongue

Actually Mals are good for service dogs these days because of their very athletic physiques. Also they are easily mobilised due to their smaller build in challenging terrain. The handler can actually carry them in a special backpack while scalling the cliff to be mobilised. Imagine that be done with a 100lbs rotts or even 75lbs GSD. The handler's would then probably have to be decomission due to HD instead....lolTongue

Hari Raya at my place!!! Sure, just fix the date.

I thought you wanna be trainer ..? Then you should get the experience of the handler and the helper..
I have two more for you to choose... Ceasar(rott) and Nicole(dobe) both are like pussycats.
