Making sure that the selective breeds are from the working line with the correct drives instead of the show confirmation lineage ...
I believe and it is a FACT that not all "guard-dog breed" can handle the stresses involved in protection training. Although they have advantages over other "non-protection" breeds, it is the cold truth that only a small % of these type of breeds can make the cut. Both sport and real protection training follow standards which unfortunately not all dogs can handle.
Choosing a pup, specially protection oriented ones, which you plan to work someday and develop to become a guardian is always a GAMBLE. That's why certain guidelines (wether you follow it or not) were developed. These guidelines are not limited to the pups' temperament but you also have to keep in mind the breeder, the line, and environment. LEO PUI Get REAL, Train REAL & Be REAL! Do RIGHT and FEAR No One!
by the way,my name is Simon.... hehehe..... I'm still looking around then.... but, I'm definitely will be in Ipoh this weekend for the dog show.... maybe I can decide what I want there.... hehe....just maybe....
u got a nice beautiful dog..!!!! how long you own him???
I will be in Ipoh this coming weekend as well. Labbie is a good start, because there are intelligent and easy to train and more importantly they're friendly. Labbie is not good as a guard dog.
May be i'm completely bias.
