Hovis Can't Post

hi! I've had several dogs from when I was a kid...german shepard, spits, beagle and 2 mongrels or what my mum calls "Heinz 57 varieties" .In fact I've never been without a dog. It just would not be home without one, would it? At present I have an english cocker....he is 10 and full of beans! Was studying in the U.K and when I finished brought him back. He made the ajustment very well, apart from not being able to run free behind my bicycle in the parks and countryside. I do think he misses that. It also took some time for him to get used to the "not so friendly dogs" in K.L. He was on the leash one day and two german shepards ran out of their house and attacked him. He has not like big dogs ever since! He did leave his best friend, nutty a ginger cat who thinks she is a dog, behind. He does seem to be bigger than the average malaysian cocker and his coat is a deep red. I love him to bits! I'm sure he is special and my dad does too.He nuged my dad awake one night (he sleeps next to the bed), my dad felt a pain run down his arm and realised he was having a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. If it had not been for "hovis" well, my dad may have passed away in his sleep. He is not just a dog he is one of the family.

welcome papadog!

Hey your cocker might be like my cocker... Jupey is also much much bigger than any of the other ECS 's Ive seen around town. Other ECS owners didnt believe he was a pured bred cocker! he is also a deep golden, nearly red, color a little like an irish setter, but not quite so red.

are you planning on bringing your Hovis out to any of these doggy gatherings?

I would bring jupey - am so proud of him he is the most handsome boy - but he's too nutty. so will bring my pup Luckey and sometimes her mum Juno instead. All are cockers.

Hi papadog,

Welcome to the forum. Can wait to see Hovis pix. Maybe you could post it in the forum for us to view.

I'm sure Hovis will miss the freedom he has when he was in UK. In Malaysia, there are alot of places which are not doggie friendly. Too bad...:-(

Papadog,

All I can say is WOW! Hovis sure earned his life-long supply of dog biscuits for his life saving warning. Your family must be so proud of him. Welcome to the forum!

Re: [evehock] Hovis [In reply to] Can't Post

I hadn't heard about dogs that sense heart attacks, but I do know that they train guide dogs for epileptics. These dogs have the ability to sense when an attack is going to happen before it does and warn their owner, so they can take precautions. They're also trained to stay with their owner while the attack is occurring.

I just love the way there are so many different types of guide dogs around to help us humans, especially those with a disability. I will always be grateful to my mum's dog Gippy who was just fabulous, he was a hearing dog and looked after her for 13 years.
