Yeah.. someone from MKA called me.. its from 3 to 5pm this Sunday.. Snowy is the newly-enrolled student and she will be coming for the orientation thingy.
in obedience training, when u walk the dog should always be on your left side, and sitted on your left side as well. hence, when you're about to stop, you naturally command "sit", as the dog is supposed to be sitting next to you when you stop.
uhh, u can use commands that u like for left turns and right turns... for right turn i use the command "close" and left turn "back"...
no rush, you can learn it from class.. in basic, they emphasize more on about turns :)
oh, "stop" or "halt" is for the trainer herself to say..
when they say "stop" or "halt" it means you have to stop and sit your dog nicely. so, your command should be SIT instead of halt :)
so fast go homework har? then must garr yao :) the trick is to actually walk your dog nicely next to you and don't let him pull you around all over the place. control, control. uhh, make sure he sits when you stop.
come 15 minutes before training class starts, warm up your dog, let him sniff around, get used to the environment to calm him down. if not, an eager puppy will be more happier to check out the environment rather than sit for class :p
yes, a very well trained dog will not pull the owner all over the place when they go out.. this needs a lot of practice and more exposure of the dog to the environment outside.
a dog will walk naturally beside the owner whenver command is given - show time, training time, evening walk... me i like to use the command only during training... when outing, he's free to sniff around, but not pull me too much la :)
