Disappearing Bumps? Can't Post

hello all,Smile

Well, here's the scenario..

Noticed a bump on Hazel's skin on her back. Looked like a mosquito bite with dry flakes of skin. That was a few days ago. Today..checked again. *poof* no more there.

Any idea what it is?

She has sprouted another bump near her chest area.. Crazy

Wow ... real hard to say ... Tongue

(a) 1st possibility ... mild case of hives? ... allergy of some sort but not serious ... comes and goes ...

(b) 2nd possibility ... sometimes when big dogs play ... they can scratch each other (paws or teeth) ... the cut/scratch raises a little bump which disappears when healed ...

(c) 3rd possibility ... it could be exactly what you say - a mosquito bite ... Shocked ... or some other insect bite etc

Actually ... I haven't got the foggiest idea ... Blush ...

Just watch the bump real close ... if it grows ... then it's off to the vet ...

Hi,

Sorry a bit off topic lah.. But since you're the "sifu" so I think I'll ask you lah.. Wink

You mentioned hives.. Hmmm.. Ah Kow gets lots of little bumps all over, mainly on her back and (ironically) hard to reach spots. I've noticed that these bumps pop out the most after I bathe her and she'll scratch like mad. They do not flake and there is no pus.

This has been going on for about a year! Unsure I've taken her to the vet, too many times and after much speculation (and about 5 different shampoos CrazyUnsure) and medication the vet came to the conclusion that it's an allergy. But she didn't mention what it was in paticluar. So do you think it's hives???

Thanks in advance! WinkSmile

hmmm...don't think it's the scratches. Maybe either the insect bite or food. I'll be monitoring her diet. Maybe just cut out the kibble and feed her BARF.....see how it goes.

Thanks Smile

*** Ai_ney*** ... you wanna explain this sifu thingy for me please ... LOL ...

Hives is a allergy reaction ... just a generic name for when bumps appear on skin ... brought on by an allergen of some sort ...

But your dog's condition doesn't sound like shampoo induced though ...

Well, just to be safe - for next bath ... do a double rinse and see how that goes ... sometimes shampoo residue (even a little) can cause a skin reaction on dog ...

Few questions - if I may ...
*** What shampoo are you using?
*** What are you feeding your dog?

Cheers Smile

Thanks.. Hmm... What shampoo?? I've got 4! CrazyCrazy One is for sensitive skin with oats, one is some apple smelling one with a very cute picture in front Wink, then there's one for fleas and ticks and the other one is another one for sensitive skin and itch.

Feeding her some kibbles recomended by the vet.. I think it's only sold at vet clinics.. Can't remember the brand though. And Cea**r, all the chicken flavours and the lamb one.

Hello ...

Laugh ... " ... one is some apple smelling, one with a very cute picture in front ..."

Errr ... don lar buy shampoos because of the scent or picture on container ... *LOL* ...

Do becareful with shampoos ... not all shampoos are equal ...

Basic Cautions with shampoos ... (a) Some heavily scented shampoos can cause skin reactions etc ... A healthy dog with good skin will not need perfume or scent (healthy dogs smell healthy) ... (b) Check the ingredients ... (c) ALWAYS RINSE PROPERLY ...

Okies ... cannot say much about your kibble unless I know the brand ... But remember, just because a kibble is sold by the vet is no guarantee or quality or suitability ...

Cheers Smile

P.S. - You really should make it a point to know what you are using on and feeding your dog.

Hehehe.. Blush Err.. I checked the apple sented shampoo.. It's got some olive oil to help make the coat softer..

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll try rinsing her twice next time she gets a bath. Smile
