Could it be kennel cough or a flu? Can't Post

Hi,

Belle has been making strange sound from her throat of late. Kind of choke like , as though she is trying to get something out of her throat but can't. I also notice her sneezing from time to time.
I called my vet , he says to monitor her for a few days and if it gets worst go see him.
Could it be cause by the hazy weather condition?
Any one face such problems with their doggie before?

Thank you in advance.
Cheng See

Many doggie cheers,

Cheng See

Hi Cheng See,

I hope Belle has not caught anything serious. As a beagle, with her sensitive nose, maybe she's just reacting to the haze. Fellow beagle owners out there care to comment? SmileAnyway, you did the right thing to call a vet. Guess at this stage, it's best to monitor her closely and see whether this will go away or not. If you need a 2nd opinion from another vet, let me know. I know of a good vet that you can consult. The clinic is located in Sunway Damansara/Tropicana area.

Hi Patricia,
This vet clinic is located at the business center of Sunway Damansara (opposite the golf course at Tropicana) I can forward the address to your email address if so desired. He's good n attentive and the charges are very reasonable. Let me know.

Hi Cheng See,
I think there's not much a vet can do now but just monitor her. Is she eating well and how's her stool? My dog do have the cough sometime but having observed carefully, it was because he took in some grass that apparently got stuck in his throat. That's for being notti. Sometimes he does that after his makan. Arthur, is the vet somewhere opposite the Seri Selangor Golf Course instead of the Tropicana Golf Course? Err... Kota Damansara?? There are a lot of new shop lots there now.

Hi Arthur,

How's your "tomboy" doing ?

Yes, would appreciate if you could e-mail me the info. No harm having contacts to other vets.

Thanks Regards:

Hi Jason and Arthur,

Belle's stool seems okay. She is also as active as ever and eating as much Crazy. But then beagles then to be active and that is a worrying part as you could never know when they are really ill. So far her cough and sneeze has not increase ie since the past few days it's been like 2 to 3 times a day only.

One of my earlier dog that caught Kennel cough show a symptom of wanting to vomit something or throm something from the mouth but nothing came out. The dog at the same time became less active and eating less. At later stage, green discharge started to appear from the nose. Kennel Cough may or may associate with Distemper. In my case, the dog finally developed distemper within a week later, hospitalized and finally put to sleep.

Thank you so much for all your concerns.
Belle seems to be okay so far. Have yet to hear the choking noise from her since last evening . So far she is still as active and naughty as ever. Heard 3 sneeze last night. This morning seems okay till now.
She just jump on my bed and ruffle it up Mad.

Guess I will not be at P.Merbok this coming Sunday. Don't want her to catch or spread any infections.

Cheers:CS

Hi Cheng See and Jason,

Good news to hear that Belle seems okay. I guess you'll be keeping a close eye on her for the next couple of days just to be sure.

The vet I was referring to has his clinic in the block of new shoplots located at Dataran Sunway, Sunway Damansara. It's opposite a golf course club but this is NOT the Tropicana golf course.

I have fwd the contact details to your hotmail email address Cheng See.

See ya all on Sunday. Rdgs Arthur.

Hi Patricia!

Err..there's no email address in your personal profile. Maybe you can update your user profile or post it here. I will send the vet contact details once I have it.

Hi all

Toffee is my beagle and he too has been coughing and wheezing for the past month...coughing like he wants to vomit something out but can't. Started when he attended training class and started using the choke chain. He also started vomiting after training.

I was very worried and took him to the vet and he got given antibiotics, some pills for bronchitis and cough medicine. He's ok now. But since the haze has started he's been wheezing again. So, no classes for him this week.
