Hmm... life as a volunteer in SPCA? Rewarding! 
Well my day starts with greeting the staff and other volunteers in the office. Then i would greet my furry friends one by one in the cages! Most of them are new faces, some familiar faces too! This would mean saying Hi to all the dogs there! Something i like to do!
Usually i would start off by walking the dogs from the front cages (near the office), one by one, changing the newspaper in the cage after every walk. I get exhausted after walking 6 or 8 dogs usually! 
Other things to do include: grooming (making sure that long nails are cut, dirty ears are cleaned, furs trimmed), bathing, cleaning the cages, or if you have a good knowledge about dogs, you could help 'promote' the dogs to the potential owners! Of course, help is also needed with the cats section! 
SPCA closes at 4pm everyday. And the dogs are fed around 5+pm. Now the fun part begins! After all the makan makan, all the dogs would be released from their cages! Imagine having more than 20 dogs surrounding you at any one time! Scary at first, especially when there are big dogs, but gradually u would love it! If you get the chance to go to the other area (separated by a gate), you would again be welcomed by more than 20 dogs and puppies! Real great fun! But of course also at this time is when we need to change the newspapers in all the cages, to ensure our friends get a good night's sleep! It's a bit tricky getting all the dogs back into their respective cages though. But we managed! 
There are a few other volunteers there who go on Sundays as well. There is a full-time volunteer in SPCA, her name is Reve (pronounced 'Ref') adn she's been there for 3 years now! We have great fun doing what we do! And we love it!
There is no really specific tasks that every volunteer need to do. Just helping out where help is needed is very much appreciated. This is what volunteering is about!
