Almost blind. Can't Post

hello there,

last week my mix terrier was almost blind as we found his eyes was very red and my maid told us that he is unable to walk properly.

we had check out with the vet and medication was done and today seem better but 1 of the eye still very red. ( medication will be still carry out ).

First suspect was spray by snake but the other baby outside the house is ok no injuries.

then someone told me that the katak urea will make the eyes blind is it true?????

regards,

vickylow

Oh yes.. I have heard about the same thing too.. didn't the vet advise you on what made the eyes goes red?? It could be sore eyes too you know.. bacteria infection... But I hope she get well soon.. for the moment, better do constant wipe around her eyes area and also keep her indoor..

... not so sure about frog urea ... but some species of frogs and toads do secrete poison from glands as part of their defense mechanism ... and if that gets into a dog's eyes or mouth ... it can be harmful ... the severity depends on the species of frog or toad ...

... So, if you find your dog mouthing a frog or toad ... wash the part of your dog that came into contact with amphibian - with lots and lots of water ... and that is usually is sufficient ...

Hope your dog gets well soon ...

Well, at least she's still eating, that's a +ve sign to me.. just ensure lots of water and pay more attention on her eyes.. if no good sign, then change vet, to get second opinion. hope she gets well soon! Smile

Hello,

glad to hear that your dog is doing well. for your information, next time if any of your dogs are having problem concerning with the eyes, you can refer to Dr. Nadzariah Cheng from UPM, she is the one and only veterinary ophthalmologist in Malaysia.

cheers!

Re: [maxsimkh] Almost blind. [In reply to] Can't Post

Hai maxsimkh,

sad to inform that my baby can't see again...

i went to meet up Dr Nazariah at UPM and was inform that my baby was suffering from cataract problem and due to his age at 8 is not suitable for operation, what the advise is to keep his at safer place for the rest of his life.....poor baby..

So from this inccident it awake me that dogs do have cataract problem same as human due to exposure to UV from the sun light, so i had bought doggles for all the others babies to wear when ever they at outing and i had change the normal lens to poloroid lens which was recommended and can be use during nite too.

Regards,

vickylow
