Can i get worms from my puppy?! Can't Post

HELP!

My boyfriend discovered a worm in my puppy's stool yesterday!! ew! he said it was sorta white and looked about 7 cm long. I also found one in our apartment (yuck!!!) on the floor but it was less than 1 cm long. We have an appointment with the vet but not till Wednesday (today is Monday). My question is...

CAN WE GET WORMS?!?! I'm super freaked out and i dont know what to do with her. I feel horrible keeping her caged in her kennel and not letting her lick me but i'm so scared we'll get worms. Please, someone help!!

The round worm that you found are basically Zoonotic that simply mean that they can both infect human and dog. The most urgent thing to do now is to deworm your puppy ASAP to get rid all the worm in the system or else the poor puppy may die soon.

If you are worry that the worm may also get into your system, deworm yourself also Smile

Re: [Khoobg] Can i get worms from my puppy?! [In reply to] Can't Post

Sorry to be so inquisitive... this is my first puppy!

My friend said that i didnt have to take my puppy to the vet, that there are medications you can buy at the pet store. I'm short on money, and i'm getting stuff at the pet store would be cheaper, but is it a good alternative, or should i just take her in? She's on medication now that is supposed to prevent heartworm and hookworm, so i guess its roundworm like you said.

Thanks again!

Hi....

Could you provide more info like what kind of medication is your pup on currently and when was the last time you gave the medication to your pup?

The reason is some medication to prevent heartworm also includes medication to prevent round worms.... depends on what kind are u giving and how often.....

And also any kind of symptom that you noticed in your pup these few days?

Hello ...

You have been given very good advice ...

Don't panic ... Smile ... If you panic, your little 'un will pick up your worry and get stressed too. Puppies having worms is not so uncommon ... much depends on where you got your puppy from ... the important thing is sorting out the problem ... And the remedy is not that difficult.

It's hard when money is tight ... most of us know that horrid feeling ... but maybe do not save on this ...

If you are worried - take your little 'un to the vet and yourself to a doctor today ... both for deworming medication - don't wait.

Seeing a professional is not only for treatment but also to comfort ourselves and our minds ... unnecessary stress is not good for you or your little 'un ...

Remember to take whatever record you may have of your pup's medical history with you to the vet ... Until you are a little more experienced, deworming medication should be prescribed by a vet ... there are specific dosages depending on age and weight ...

Take care ...

When you find 7cm long round pass out from your puppy, you need to take urgent action to clear all worm by deworming the puppy. A deworm tablet cost only RM 5.00 (USD 1.25) and all that you need to purchase 2 tablets and the 2nd to be adminstered to the puppy 21 days later.

Cheers

Zentel [In reply to] Can't Post

syrup Zentel (albendazole) if given about 1cc (for small dogs) 3 days in a row can clear all worms INCLUDING hookworms.

alternatively give a dose of pyrantel pamoate.

pet shops sell loads of worm medications which are narrow spectrum so please read the labels.

look for preparations that contain albendazole or pyrantel pamoate/embonate.
