The other day I was at a petshop in SS2. They had a Maltese. SIGH... so cute.
Anyway, I just want to know if anyone owns a Maltese. Can you tell me more about it? Behaviour..etc. What sort of individual is suitable to take care of a Maltese.
The same goes for Bichon Frise.
Thanks.

bichon and maltese needs lots of grooming... bichon so curly looks like a cotton candy!! and maltese has tear stains which is very common.... and both r white...
Bao Bao is right...if you really have the time to sacrifice...it's brilliant!! A Bichon needs a lot of attention in grooming. It cost about 500pounds over here, not to mention show potential. Hope that you can get a dog you love! CHEERS
yeah~!!! Bichon just looks like COTTON CANDY~ and always dunno where to hold them~ I mean really don't know how to carry them as if will spoilt their hair style~
Must really consider whether you have got all the time and energy to groom and take care of these dogs.. everyday have to wipe thier face, if not got tear stain, after meal have to wipe.. not to mention has to stay on dry clean floor all the time.. and constant brushing and grooming is required....
Also, at any time, avoid purchasing from Pet Shop ~ Puppy Mill.... instead, you might wanna call up MKA to check out the local breeder on these two breed.. they are able to explain and share with you more on the lifestyle and what is required on these breed if you choose to take one home
anyway,lil_bee, if there's not enough info,it's best you do some research of your own on the net or in books. Its temperament and compatibility to your lifesyle/personality are far more important than how it looks in the pet shop.
i think there should be..but their show dogs and have show quality pups..
there are quite a variety of rarer breeds in M'sia which are harder for us "common" ppl to get. Have to get those champion bloodlined or show quality pups.. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
Thanks.. I've just informed my work friends NEVER to get from pet shop last week over dinner.. I'm glad that I am able to enlighten a few of them on Puppy Mill.... If you need to know the breeder list, pls give MKA a call, if that fail, let us know and we'll try our best to help you in owning a pup!
well, abt the gathering..not sure if i'll be going or not got alot of work these days..need time to relax..hehe have some "alone time" and also Tyson(i think by the name you already know) is a large breed dog-bullmastiff to be exact and Silky is a cocker spaniel mix terrier..not exactly small..abt 16inch at the withers and...13kgs...i think that's abt the size of 2-3 cavies combined..
me doing the same too..i'm very against puppy mills..i've actually been to one...not a very pleasant experience to say the least ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
i think it was a puppy mill..either that or an extremely bad backyard breeder...
the smell was horrible and the dogs were...*yuck* the smaller dogs weren't that bad..they even had a black pug..imported gr's..etc etc..
they weren't whining or anything like that...but they looked so pitiful..
there were 2 parts of the kennel..the first part was worst where they kept the smaller dogs..min pins..silky's..pugs..etc..the 2nd wasn't that bad..they put the dogs in the cages in a small yard...i hope they are in their cages because i came to look at the pups..
i wanted to..but my mom was like " don't find trouble.." ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
You should you know.. for the betterman of these poor dogs.. you can call up MKA without revealing your name and let them do the rest of the investigation... If I were you, I would have done it.. think about it.
come to think of it, there really isn't any organization here in Malaysia which round up puppy-millers.
MKA is more into shows,trials... pedigree certs... PAWS and SPCA more into adoptions... heck, are there actually any rule at all here to stop puppy mill? is it actually illegal in Malaysia???? no one seems to enforce the rules (if there are any)
