Parson Russell Terrier Can't Post

Hi Guys,

Do you have Parson Russell Terriers over there? I have seen many JRTs here in Singapore and hardly any Parson Russell Terriers other than my own. Anyone care to share pictures of your Parson if you have any or where in Malaysia can one get this breed?

Here are some of my Parsons' pictures.Wink

Hi Reality Dreamer,

Yes I do show them in our SKC Championship Dog Show. The white/tan one is called Sow's Ear Refund and the white/black one is called Ravenswood Crack of Dawn.

Is it true that most people prefer the JRTs to the Parson Russell Terriers? Seems like many people like short legs....

Cheers!

what are their call/pet names? Smile

hmm..not sure if ppl here have a preference..i think the JRT's more common here because it's available here..not many ppl have parsons because it's more difficult to get

as for me i like parson's and the rough coated JRT's Smile

IMHO, I think it is always good to see who are the puppy's parents, this will give you an idea of how the it will turn out when it grows up.

It is also important to get a JRT or Parson that meets the requirements in breed's standard. My experience is that the cute puppy may end up with various faults or illness that will surface only very later in the puppy's life. In addition, having a good temperament JRT or Parson is very important owing to their nature.

Just my 2 cents worth...TongueTongue

Agree with DS_1 , its not easy to have a show standard JRT or Parson, especially most of them ended up problem with ears and legs. Cant really see a puppy when they are too young, anything can happen during their growth.

Re: [All] Parson Russell Terrier [In reply to] Can't Post

Here's something I found over the Internet ... Just thought I'd share it with you guys ...

" Quote : The name of the Jack Russell Terrier was changed to the Parson Russell Terrier effective April 1, 2003 as requested by the Jack Russell Terrier Association of America, which was changed to the Parson Russell Terrier Association of America. "

[Source : http://www.akc.org/...ds/recbreeds/jrt.cfm ]

I think Jack Russell Terrier and/or Parson Russell Terrier are probably not just the same terrier group, but the same breed. What do you think?

Hi,

Do note that in FCI countries, the Parson Russell Terrier (used to be called Jack Russell Terrier in US) is a separate breed from the Jack Russell Terrier (the shorter legged, more patchy Asutralian imports).

In other words, PRT is PRT. JRT is still JRT. They are 2 different breeds.

However, under JRTCA (Jack Russell Terrier of America. www.terrier.com), PRT is still known as JRT. JRTCA is not afiliated with any kennel clubs and thus is not subjected to the name change.
