Inky do not believe in changing the course of nature; that is to say, when you are tired and wanted to sleep, you sleep. Therefore teaching a male dog to squat when peeing is amounting to tampering with nature and this I think is an unforgiving sin. I dare say that not many member could offer you an explanation that is acceptable to reasoning. Not even from the internet will you find a solution. If you are really seeking for an answer, you will have to start right from the beginning before Biscuit comes into your life. Biscuit had no choice. It was you who decided to purchase a puppy dog or a puppy bitch. And please don't tell me you have no knowledge of dogs, because you had a few before. Marking of territories is common to dominant male animals and by changing this habit could very well have a negative effect on the animal's psychology. However, if your dog is house trained and he realised that only he himself is the master and king of his domain, he MAY not have to mark his territories. This does not answer your question "Is it possible to train a male dog not to lift his leg when he's pee'ng?" The answer is no, because if you look carefully at the reproductive system of a bitch and a dog, god has made it as such that dogs when peeing stand on three legs to do a perfect marking on lamp posts, tree stumps and flower pots. When Biscuit has reached puberty, it will come naturally unless Biscuit is a SHIM.
