u very luckilah...ur doodle not fussy...good work stick to it. My dog will only eat kibble once in the blue moon or when he's very hungry. A kg of dry food will usually last for 2-3 months and is served 24 hours aday. Other times he is fed with milk, Cesar and home cooked food consisting of fruits, fish, beef and chicken...occassionally turkey. My doggie very fussy over treats too.... garlic pills or vitamins...don't dream.
It's no use even if the kibbles r expensive or not coz he will not 'laya'. Maybe it was my mum's fault coz when i was away for studies last time...my mum will always go to the 'bak kua' man to but the chicken wing for him. That's why he become like thatlah...... Since he is 3 + it's no use to torture him to switch his diet but i believe the diet is ok for him coz his coat is thick & the colour is ok
Just asking, is ur doodle greedy for food? My fren's lab....so greedy for food that whatever it is given...it'll clean the plate till it shines...dogs like that no need to worrylah
Re: [pink_doughnut] What is your dog's diet ??

Look like we are of the same boat...never thought large breed besides Golden Retriver r choosy too....just toy breed i thought. But eating rice for large breed is good coz it'll make ur dog grow bigger tooMine...too bad...we once mix canned food with rice...he'll pick all the rice out, full stop
Actually basset is kinda of cute...i especially like their ears so long n cute and their body...when thay paly chasing...so cute but kinda hard to carry them due to their long body.... look at the grumpy face...so comel...
Ur doodle is 7 mths rite...better feed him twice a day rather than once. This is becoz they're still growing small meals make them digest easier rether than 1 large meal. Maybe u can change to once when he's around 12 months
Maybe u can encourage him to eat by being with him during meal or carry up the bowl for him... it encourages him or take him for a walk or give him some treats or rawhide after meal
U can check n see whetehr he's sick or just being picky......first examine his gums...they should be red/pink n not pale.....his stool should b hard like usual unless u dewormed him.....lastly hi nose should be a little wet n he's still activ. If all the signs shown negative results....better consult the vet

All that you said are all positive.
I mean, he is still active. Biting things and run away with it. Stool hard if it was yesterday's food (i mean, a walk in the morning before breakfast, therefore the stool has to be yesterday's) If after meal, his stool is soft.
His nose is wet. But sometimes when he wakes up, it is quite dry.
I notice that his eyes has alot of discharge. Normal? Heard from somebody that it is because he is heaty??
I assume that doodle is a poodle? sorry, it's me being stupid.
I have a poodle cross maltese at home. And he can be the most difficult dog to satisfy. Apparently poodles are really arrogant dogs. The choose what they want to eat, play etc. So, mine chooses his food. I have to mix his kibbles with some of the canned 'My Dog' food. He loves it. One of my friends has the same breed, and her's chooses the flavour of the canned food too!!! She knows if it's salmon or chicken or vegetable flavour.
What the trainer told me was never leave the food out for the dog too long. Leave it during the usual meal times for about 20-30 minutes. If the dog doesn't eat it, just take it away. Then the dog would have to wait till the next meal. They eventually will l learn the fact that if they don't eat, they will starve for the rest of the day. It sounds really mean, but we have to let them know that we are the boss, not them!
I also strongly suggest that you should give your dog dry kibbles anyhow. YOu can mis it with some other food. It helps to clean their teeth.
My doodle is a basset hound... heehhe.. yup, alot of people get mix up with noodle, poodle and etc.
I really like doodle probably because I like drawing. A dog that reflects my personallity? hehehehe...
well, I actually thought that doodle is really sick and tired of his dry food? cause he eats it everyday?! hehhehe... anyhow, when he is hungry, he will eventually eats them. Now, he eats regularly. I guess nothing to worry about.. yet?
Is doodle n your mood getting better?....Hope both of u r
I once asked the vet too...it's not becoz it's too heaty but it's the flow of the discharge got block..that's why...waht u can do is that u massage the area near the eyebrow for 5 mins a day n u'll see the differences
