hey there, don't know abt you..but I don't bother training my dogs this way. In fact, i encourage them to bark at strangers. It makes them great watchdogs and natural doorbells Example: One day, my dog was barking really madly. She had a different bark..a very fierce one. I've only heard it once when I saw someone climbing over the wall. Well, that day she was barking like that. I got scared, locked everything, tried to bring her in but she refused to come in. I didn't see anyone though. You know why? Coz my neighbours housed was being ROBBED. Yup, in broad daylight at 4 pm. My neighbour was held hostage and the whole family was tied up till they cleaned the house. I leave it up to my dog to judge my guests. She can judge really well. Once the guests are in the house, she stops barking. If she likes them(the guests mean well),she'll go up to the guests and get some pats. If she doesn't(for some reason or another),she'll sit by me and watch them. If she's ok with them, she'll take a nap and watch them. No,my dog isn't a dog bred for guarding, she's a cocker spaniel mix terrier. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
