Hi, I use Revolution on all my dogs to prevent fleas, ticks and heartworms. I think Revolution also prevents a number of other things but I cant recall what those are. Its a once a month solution that you apply in between the shoulder blades. Revolution prevents the eggs from hatching and kills the existing fleas. I dont know about using Dettol though. It may kill fleas and ticks but the purpose is to protect your dog and who knows what the long term effects on your dogs would be.

soooo...in conclusion, is dettol really safe for our dogs and effective in killing the fleas and ticks?
i've tried the method also (coz my bro said it's effective) but i think that billy's coat became much drier when i used dettol. IMHO, i don't really think that dettol is safe for our dogs coz by all means, we use dettol to clean the floors and it's even strong enough to remove stubborn stains in the toilet!!! so just imagine using the same thing to bathe our dogs...

hello there, hmm..hmmm...if you use dettol alone,no doubt the coat will become dry...
here's what i do...normally, i would wet my dogs' fur with water then add in diluted dettol solution(not too much..1-2 capful in 1/2 full bucket)...wait for 5 mins...rinse the solution and start shampooing the doggies like usual...
i'll use this method only when my dogs get ticks or fleas...if not,i just bath them as usual...

so if you do it this way... "wet my dogs' fur with water then add in diluted dettol solution(not too much..1-2 capful in 1/2 full bucket)...wait for 5 mins...rinse the solution and start shampooing the doggies like usual... " will it kill all the fleas and ticks?

well...in the earlier stage,i tried with few ticks...i tried dapping diluted dettol on ticks(still on doggy's body)..after few minutes, the ticks would start to drop from the body..since the dosage is quite low,i guess it will only repel tick/flea and not kill them...
i'm not using dettol anymore since many agreed that dettol is too harsh...i'll be using salvon instead..
Please do not use these solution(dettol or salvon) on puppies...their skins are too delicate for it..
