Mange? Can't Post

Noticed this red balding spot on my baby and she's been scratching like crazy lately. Took her to the vet and the doc says it's mange. And all this while I thought it was just a skin allergy from her food.

So, is this mange thingy incurable or what? Unsure

Doc put her on pills for 2 weeks and I got to bring her back after that, so don't know if it'll get better or not.

Regards.

A comprehensive topic on both Dermodex and Sarcorpic mange was covered previously. Please refer.

My apologies for not having done a search on past postings. I did so immediately after I sent this and found what you were referring to.

Re: [tangyp] Mange? [In reply to] Can't Post

Three months ago, a pug belong to my friend was heavily infected with Demodex with about 70% of the body hairless. The skin was so itchy that the little puppy scratch the body everywhere. At that point in time, thw owner has brought the puppy to the VET and has spent more than RM 400.00 on the treatment without any improvement.

What I told him is to try Tick Wash and I bought him a bottle for only RM 8.00. In just a few days, he started to see improvement and today, the pug puppy is 100% back to normal.

Cheers

Hai, Can you PLEASEEEE let me know which particular brand of Tick Wash and where to get them. I when to a pet shop in SS14 and ask for Tick Wash but she look at me blankly and ask what was the problem, so i said mange and she told me no you can't use that blah blah blah and the best part was she refuse to sell me one that says shampoo for ticks and fleas by McLee's. Any help here is very much appreciated.

Tick wash is a poisonous chemical only sold by the VET and not pet shop. Pet shop will not have the license or permit to carry these chemical.

It is so simply a job and yet members are not making full use of Puppycom. There is a section in the home page where you could purchase on line.
Why not try to purchase on line and wait for a miracle to happen.

hello mr Derrick,

I am talking about myself but I feel most of us "puppies" are the same... my point is we want eveything spoon feedWink, we just bookmark the forum side, log on, read and ask questions without looking around for facts... I know it is MadMadMad but thats what happens and it is nice to have people like you to take us the right way, I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

How is Joey's mange condition? Any improvement? My Biscuit has also been scratching like crazy lately and his coat is thinning out so I brought him to the vet yesterday and he has demodex mites....the vet gave him a medicated shampoo as well as a liquid medicine for dipping....I think it is the same tick wash as the one mentioned by Khoo....a few drops to dilute into the water for application after bathing

Joey's better now. The reddish patch has gone, she doesn't scratch as much now although she still scratches.

I asked about tickwash. Doc says it's not necessary, says it's quite toxic. So you better be careful with that stuff.

Hope Biscuit gets better soon. Hurts to see him scratch like that, doesn't it? Frown

Re: [tangyp] Mange? [In reply to] Can't Post

Well he gave charcoal tablets to consume as well to neutralise the toxin frm the wash....but anyway he may be allergic to that stuff coz now his whole body is red and has like rashes all over, including the insides of his ears...took him to the vet again and he gave some antibiotics to ease the rashes....yah i feel really awful when i see him scratch like crazy Unsure ....mine did not really hv specific red patches, rather it was overall thinning of hair in his body and face...the vet almost got fooled coz his body didn't hv any lesions and he thought it was allergy at first, but after some scraping it was confirmed....

Anyway, I'm glad Joey is getting better though Smile

Well...I hope Biscuit gets better soon, too!

He's got a good mummy to take care of him. Smile
