WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOUR FURKIDS Can't Post

If dogs can talk, what do you think they'll prefer?

- super premium food

- a big yard ( space )

- lots of toys

- lots of treats

- in house living ( no cage n leash )

- to be with human family most of the time

- regular healthcare like grooming and vacination

- walks

- trainings and outings with owners

- socialising

- hygene place to sleep in

Please add in any other comments u can think of. I am having three girls wz me but until today I'm still wondering if what I have provided is what they really needs becoz they can't talk to me. Only way is to get other forumers idea for sharing.

FREEDOM... and to be treated as what they are meant for like GR's for retrieving, GSD and rotties to work, the hounds to go hunting and sniffing things out. Definitely not treating them like hoomans or even dressing them up like puppets.. it's not natural to them..

If FREEDOM is what you propose, then GRs would not be for retrieving, GSDs will not be working for the police, etc etc. That's called HUMAN INTERVENTION. Breeds as you mentioned such as GRs, GSDs, Rotties, Shih Tzus, Schnauzers, etc etc are MAN MADE, bred for a purpose to conform to man's requirement of them such as, hunting, working for police & even retrieving ducks.

If dogs should be treated like dogs & left to be pack animals running free & wild, doing their own thing then, rehomers & rescuers, etc should not be rehoming & rescuing them. They should be left as stray dogs wild packs, roaming the streets as they like. If you really wanna talk about freedom, that is the ultimate FREEDOM.

As for dressing up dogs like "hoomans" or puppets, alot of owners dress their dogs up specifically only for a fancy dress competition organized by the SAME people who are allowing you to use their forum right now & by the people who just held their dog competition at Mid Valley Megamall 29th March, where you were present. Yesterday 30th March Sunday, they had a fancy dress Feline Competition. So, what do you have to say about that? Are you going to tell the people who dress up their pets for competition sake that they are doing a bad thing? Many of your friends even won prizes for dressing up their dogs on Saturday. Why don't you tell them that they should not treat their dogs as "hoomans" or puppets? Better still, write to the organizers of these competitions & tell them off. Simple as that!

Other reasons for dressing up dogs or cats are for a practical purpose. Some owners (not just us) make their dogs (or cats) wear clothes to keep them clean. Dogs will be dogs as you say & will roll in the mud & play in the grass after their bath. Making them wear a t-shirt, is one way of keeping them clean. Another reason is keeping them warm on a rainy cold day especially for short haired breeds like, Dalmatian, Dobermann, Chihuahua, MinPin, etc. Third reason, keeping wound areas clean after an operation such as spaying. Fourth reason, keeping hair from dropping on the floor.

Back to the third reason, speaking of spaying & neutering, if dogs are allowed to be DOGS as you say, then there should be no human intervention whatsoever, meaning NO SPAYING or NEUTERING becoz that alters their biological makeup. Let them breed & give birth to a whole population of wild, free running, packs of dogs. They should not even have owners becoz owners are "hoomans" or humans who will curtail their freedom. Eg: chain them up, put them in cage, keep them behind the gate, etc etc.

So how would you explain your interest in neutering & spaying the dogs you rehome? Oh by the way, what about vaccination, deworming, heartguard & even bathing & grooming etc etc. Dogs in the wild such as wolves & Dingos, do not take bath or sent to the award winning groomers & to the spa.

Re: [bakamono] WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOUR FURKIDS [In reply to] Can't Post

- super premium food : Probably. As long it is balanced & good for them regardless of brand.

- a big yard ( space ) : Yes but the dog must be allowed to use it. If the dog is tied up or confined somewhere else, n use lor... Big yard space is pointless if the owner does not play or interact with the dog in that space becoz that space will only be used for peeing & shitting.

- lots of toys : Nah!

- lots of treats : Yah, for greedy dogs.

- in house living ( no cage n leash ) : Absolutely 100%! No dogs liked to be caged or leashed or confined. All dogs to be as close as possible to their owners eg: watching tv together, sitting under the table when owner is eating, even sleeping in the same room. The human & dog bond is most important.

- to be with human family most of the time : Yes! As above.

- regular healthcare like grooming and vacination : Important but dog not necessarily enjoy.

- walks : 100% yes! This is bonding/togetherness time.

- trainings and outings with owners : Yes 110%! This is also bonding & togetherness time where owner & dog work together willingly & happily as a team.

- socialising : Yes 100%! This is very very very important so that the dog is able to conform with the requirements of modern day society. Dogs are no longer in the wild, like wolves where there are no breeds & "hoomans".

- hygene place to sleep in : Definitely! Dogs will not eat & shit in the same place.

This is my opinion lah ha that the dog is MOST happy when he or she knows what it is there for eg: working dogs, service dogs, hunting dogs or just plain & simple, conformation show dogs. Once they know that, their life is clear cut. I also notice that they also like routine & structure in their lives & this is what training provides whether Agility, Heelwork to Music, Rally Obedience or Obedience. They need guidance in their life. We the "hoomans" are the pack leaders & we are the ones who will show them the way.

Re: [Amber.Faith] WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOUR FURKIDS [In reply to] Can't Post

Another post which is so full of jealousy as usual.. Didn't your friends win also? Did i say that they should be left running free in the wild? Man made specific dogs for a reason. Man domesticated them so man should be responsible in controlling their population Since man intervened in their natural breeding and living habitats and all then they should stand up for them who can't speak for themselves and and don't know what is good for themselves.

It is totally none of your business on how or what I do. Why should you be telling me what to do? Don't you have your own work like training your dogs? It is none of my business if someone wants to organise a fancy dress competition. I couldn't be bothered. Not all furkids would like to be dressed up if it's for health reason or so then it is necessary. I feel that those who dress up their dogs even at home for no reason is so unnecessary.. For contest or so on is a personal interest so it's none of my business..

The rest of your post are just assumptions made by you.. Never said by me..

Differences and hatred duly noted. The subject for reference here is what do you think is GOOD for the furkids and not what other ppl do that you disagree with. To me, I couldn't care a damn if u hang all yr dogs up in the tree and still insist that it's good for them as it's a free world and I hope u can give the same respect to other forumers. We have enough restrictions here in M'sia n it'll be nice if v could work our way around it to provide a better place for the furkids that v love instead of taking every chance to show our dislike in a forum that many enjoy.

Re: [Veanne] WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOUR FURKIDS [In reply to] Can't Post

I think the common area between human and dogs are both are pack animals. Dogs need company just like us needing friends. If I'm confine to an area on my own without my alpha around me most of the time to assure me of my safety, maybe I'll turn koo koo also. The only difference is human can install all the safety measure inside the house and can be at 90% sure that we will not have any surprises when we sleep but being dogs in the garden or yard is like something in the wild for them with not much assurance. Therefore human companionship means a lot to them, I guess.
