stepy, i'm happy for you and your furkid as you will be giving a home to a puppy...

however one thing about taking back a puppy is like what myzarnordin said in some other threads.... be prepared for alot of biting, crying, barking, pee n poo all over the place.. basically bringing back a puppy is like bringing back a home destroyer.... that should be the case untill the puppy is around 1++ or 2yrs old... depends on how u train the puppy etc etc..

i do not think that you will need to choose exotic or special names... as long as your puppy responses to the name that you are giving it, thats fine...

please also ensure that your house is puppy proof... and dont leave any breakable items where it could be reached by the puppy, all garbage bins are placed somewhere where the puppy cannot reach, no soap/detergent/weed killers/rat poison etc etc etc where it could be reached by the puppy... and also make sure that your gate and fence are all in good condition and the holes are not big enough for the puppy to wriggle through...

peace

Name should be short and simple to remember by the pup.

its ok if you do not have any dangerous objects, dustbins, poisonus stuff etc etc lying around and also make sure that there is adequate ventilation in your room... cos if not, your room will stink of dog pee/poo Frown

but whatever it is, just make sure that its safe for the puppy...

Re: [stephbaby] any suggestion for my puppy's name...???? [In reply to] Can't Post

haha... i'm not an expert in taking care of dogs... just paranoid and also due to the fact that i'm always around dog lovers where everything we talk about revolves around dogs.

i have 1 lovely daughter called Zoey... and the sad thing is that she's not staying with me... i have to put her at my aunts place because my working time has become very irregular.

anyways, should not be a problem for the puppy to sleep in air cond room... just make sure that the air cond is not blowing directly at her and if possible get some baby's clothes for her.

yes, puppies can bath with warm water.. just make sure that it is not too hot.

from her poo you can determine if something is wrong with the puppy or not. usually after changing kibbles, stress or any other illness, the dogs poo will be soft and wet. a normal dog's poo should be solid and not too dry.

ask the breeder if she has been vaccinated. if not, check with the breeder when can she be vaccinated. if she is vaccinated, she should have her medical card with her. if the breeder did not do anything, bring her back, let her settle down for a week or tow an bring her to the vet for a full checkup.

please bear in mind that there are a few things that is a must to be done.

1. Heartworm tablet
2. vaccination
3. deworming
4. spaying or neutering
5. frontline (to get rid of ticks. if your dog will go and play in the garden... which they should.... no dog is healthy if always confined in the house/room)

regards.. Frown

Here you go. Here are a few tips in choosing a good name. I think the name should come from you then the connection and bond is there. That's why I am only offering tips and not names suggestion.
  • Pick a name that the pet can easily recognise. Animals respond better to one or two syllable names.
  • Choose a name that’s both easy to call out and one that you are happy calling out. Calling out "Jack" or "Clover" in the park may be far less embarrassing than calling out than "Stink".
  • For dogs avoid names that sound like the standard commands of No, Stay, Sit, Come, Down or Fetch. For example "Joe" is probably too close to "No". Or "Kit" is too close to "Sit" It can be difficult for dogs to tell the difference between similar sounding words. Especially if you are planning to train your dog, this will prove to be a real problem.
  • If choosing a long name keep in mind the shortened version. A long name will inevitably be shortened, but it may ruin the effect that you were originally looking for.
  • Waiting a few days to study your dog's behaviour can help in picking the right name. The Personality, Affectionate and Appearance categories may assist here.
  • Pick a name that will grow with the pet. For example "puppy" may be less appropriate for a full grown dog.

Have fun choosing the right name for your new family member!!

Hahahah!! Pening hor? Just take your time to choose the name lah. Discuss with your BF first. I am sure you guys will come to an agreement on a name lah.

My dog's name is Scruffy. Easy. It is named after the way he looks. Which suits him really well. Tongue

Choosing name is a very fun thing to do! A few things to think when you decide your puppy name... Do not name her anything similar to the command you are going to use later... heard from my breeder, someone named her pet NoNo, at the end, do not respond to the "No" command lolzz... Try calling the name you think of repetitively, see if you like calling it, is it smooth to call or not.. else, everytime you call your puppy, you will be playing with your tongue!

All the best with getting the new puppy, and yes I am a MS lover too!
