Small or Big Dog??? Can't Post

Hi... I've been looking for new doggie and i m in dilemma whether to buy a small dog or big dog? Unimpressed

Previously i had a shihtzu for 10 yrs and she passed away in Feb this year. I was very sad since then. When i go into any pet shop, i'll sure look for shih tzu 1st before looking for other breeds. Crazy

Sometimes, i'll think big dog is good for our safety coz it can be a guard dog... Thinking to buy labrator too.

Any ideas whether to buy a small dog or big dog?

Anyone know where to buy a nice breed eg. shih tzu and labrator?

Labrador as a guard dog is a serious joke lah

U should try and see what happen to a Lab when there is thunder during rainy hours

or during festive season when there is alot firecrackers around

my Labs heartbeat can actually let me experience how isit having a earthquake in my own home

when it stay close to me whenever it afraid of something.Crazy

Its a small intelligent dog in a big size body if i would describe it

will be afraid of almost everything but its a really a smart breed

police only use it for drug sniffing, not chasing criminal

if u need ideas, i would maybe suggest u in getting a german shep

forget about the retriever family Sly

Thanks for your advice, rikimaru!!! Cool

That's remind me cos my neighbour has a labrador... i thot his dog will barks at me when i approaches it in front of his gate but the dog doesnt do that when i feed him with dog snacks...Laugh

And now, the dog likes me a lot and swings his tail when see me pass-by...

Another thing is when strangers passing-by, the dog will sure bark at them like very fierce wor.... that's why i thot they can be a guard dog... hehe

One nite, When i met my neighbour, i asked him why the dog treats us like friends... then he replied me "becos the dog knows that u are my neighbour, therefore the dog is good to u... if not, sure will bark like hell." Emm.... so that thot me to buy a labrador.

Actually all dogs are afraid of unfamiliar sounds, it is just a matter of conditioning.

Lab & GT are hunting dogs, they will dived into lakes to retrieves birds that are shot down and retrieve for the hunters.

No dogs make good Guard dogs, even GSD unless specially trained for that task, like police dogs or security companies’ dogs. They are selected from the best of the liters.

Majority of the people are contented with just a watch dog, barking to sound the alarm.

My GRs are good at that baking at nay stranger, but once they enter into their domain, a stranger becomes friend.

A well prepared robber will always be able to “kill” your dog, even GDD or rotties.

So if you want a security for your home get a Alarms systems.

So I suggest that you get a GR, (my bias) you can get hours of fun and joy.

Also you will get endless headache and hard work as well.

Well, I completely agreed with sbt. My opinion is to get a GR as well. When you made up your mind to get a dog, sure you want to have fun with them, not just only to guard your house.

I'm having a GR pup now, this is my 1st dog, I'm giving my full concentration on him currently. I'm quite lucky to choose a GR, they r smart and adoring. I'm not commenting on other breeds, but as for me, I believe GR is suitable for me n might suitable for u too!

GR need high maintanence....need to groom n hard to take care... Unsure

if wan a similar temperament...better opt for labrador..

if wan a dog that can really guard....get a mongrel...Laugh

Yea, GR actually sheds a lot...But for the hard to take care part, u r refering to? I tot all pups r hard to take care...they need a lot of attention. Wink

Do u mean they r prone to some deceases?

Gr is hard 2 take care becoz of their long coat..u need to groom them almost everyday

when u bath them, u need to blow them dry.......n do u think labrador need to blow dry?
