ALLERGY OR BURN ??? Can't Post

Is it possible this is cause by allergy to the medicine given during a c-section ? or it is caused by the heating pad ?

vet is not sure is burn or allergy.FrownFrown ( the same vet that did her c-section) The dog gets it after she had her c-section. Now she is warded in the clinic for close to 2 weeks.

To me it seem more like burn than allergy as only one side of the body is badly hurt.

oh my god...Shocked

wht happened to you poor dog....

which clinic is this?? we really wana know,,,

during the operation , they do use heating pad, and the scars are
exactly on the back.

heating pad malfunctioned...?
is ur dog ok now?

i think u should take her to another vet to check,
if it is burn, they will know right away,
only the vet who did this , won't tell u the truth
cos its a botch-up!

pls let us know,

it really looks like burn marks, and it will take time to heal,
u need to make sure the skin don't get infected....

so sad to see this,

the clinic should be black listed if found guilty, Mad

yes yes, I do agree you change your doggie's vet. I don't think this is a small case. How come a vet also not sure whether this is allergy or burn? Oh...this is really very heart sickening....Unsure

Well, I suspect that the wound is due to the heating pad but i do not wish to argue with the vet as my heart has broken seeing my poor girl in that condition. The vet told me this has never happen to any other dog before and it could be allergy ( they did mention that the chances of allergy is very slim).

As who is my vet, i rather not to name it here as I believe that they do not have the intention to hurt her and they are very caring toward her. They are running a business and by giving out their clinic name will not help my girl to cure.

I just hope that I do not have to pay a hefty price for treatment. She has been warded for close to two weeks. I dont think I will be able to bring her home any sooner as she requires sedative for daily wound cleaning which i will not be able to provide.

All the dog lover who has read this , please pray together with me for my doggy speedy recovery.

I will update all of you her progress

From the pictures, the skin looks charred to me. Is the black patches dry and flaky, means can peel or is falling off? Does it oozes out A LOT of clear liquid (plasma)? well if yes, yes and yes, then it's burnt. Usually allergy cases wont give u burnt skin mahh. Well as far as my pathology lecture taught me lah...donnu if the same applies to dogs or not.

But still BETTER go see another vet.

hmmm heating pad for what ah? just curious. Crazy

wah u really protect your vet. Unsure

but i see this as a carelessness , or equipment malfucntion?

as i do not noe wht is the procedure of using the heating pad,
during surgery, after surgery, only noe it is used to maintain
the temp of patient under anaesthesia.

i will ask fellow vets for opinions on this. to clear things up.
this is really a freak accident man,,,,,

anyway i am still curious to know which clinic u go to.
if u don't mind, u can email me at
" bagarobasara 'dekat' yahoo 'titik' com "
no prob, if u wish not to disclose,
i promise not to post the name here.

maybe im goin to this vet as well..... Unsure

Re: [steffy1811] ALLERGY OR BURN ??? [In reply to] Can't Post

Well i'm not sure is there any clear liquid or not. All the fur was stuck together with the skin when I saw her on the next day after the C-section at the clinic. Some part of the body look like blue black initially, therefore i did doubt that it could be allergy to the medicine

Based on my observation, it look like 2nd degree burn as there are blister on the body 2 days after the c-section. SSD cream was prescribed to her and SSD is known for treating burn victim in human case.

Well, i do have some picture taken before her hair is shaven. I will post it up when i upload it from my fren camera

I'm not protecting my vet. It is people's rice bowl and I do not want to jump into conclusion without getting all my facts right. My intention of posting it here is to get a second view on what could have happen to my dog. Maybe some of you have experience this before and can advise me on how to do deal with it.

Anyway there is no law in Malaysia for mal-practices . What can I do ?

I was in the clinic when the C-section was performed. Everything went on well and 5 beautiful puppies were born. The pups were little weak when they were born and a lot of attention and effort were given to ensure that all of them survive ( which they do .... thank god)

The heating pad was covered with towel to prevent direct contact to the dog and the pup. The only thing that I am curious is that how come only the mum is affected ? all the 5 pups are perfectly healthy.

Frown I feel so sorry for my dog and i can feel the pain she has gone thru everytime i see her and her picture

if its indeed vet error, then you are helping other pet owners by
informing them about this case.

in fact the local vet community encourages pet owners to report
on unprofessional vets,... this"...will help to improve the professional image of Malaysian veterinarians and promote high quality services of small animal practices.. "

this is a quote taken from the vet forum.
