Hello Derric,

Well, a dog with MKA cert, are they consider registered to MKA?

He has though but the name of owner is not yet transfer as it stated there the breeder's name. SO I assume I still need to go the and transfer the name.

Thanks all for welcoming me. I am going through the website and found that its pretty coollll!!!

Keep up the good work! Cool

A dog with pedigree cert; ( some call it birth cert; some call it MKA cert; some call it apt cert ) is considered has been registered with the who had certified it 'pure breed'. However, you still got to be careful as there are forgeries floating in the market.
Check the following for authenticity. On the left-hand bottom corner, can you see a 26 point red star? Put your thumb over the area and do you feel that it has been embossed and when you closely examined the wordings, they should read "The Malaysian Kennel Association" ( 000457-K ) Common Seal.
If your pedigree has these items, you are OK.
Now I want you to turn the pedigree over. You should see Record of Transfer. If it is blank, you have not done the transfer and theoretically the shih tzu is still the property of the breeder.
What must you do next? When you bought the puppy, the breeder should have given you a green transfer form with figure 5 on the right-hand corner.
This is what is known as The Application for Transfer of A registered dog. Have you got this form? If you have then, 'Details of current owner' and 'details of new owner' - that is you - should be duly completed and SIGNED by BOTH parties and you could submit to MKA for transfer to your name. If you are a member, the fees is only RM10. and for non-member it is RM50.
If you do not have the green transfer form you should chase and chase the breeder immediately.
To be a member of MKA you also need to fill up a membership application form. It is available from the office in Tamn Tun Dr. Ismail or I could fax you a copy if you give me your Fax number.
Anything you wish to know, you could either post a message in this forum or call MKA direct 77292027 and speak to any of the clerks there who will be able to put you on the right track.
Regards.

Derric
Thanks for your information.

So, Teddy has a brith cert. That means he is registered with the. From your information, you stated that eventhough if Teddy is registered to MKA, that does not make me a member of MKA, am I right? That means the registration for member fee will be RM50 for me Frown.

As for forgeries of the cert, I remember that it has that 26 point red star with embossed letters. I am not sure what letter it was but will check on it the sec I reach home. Hope that it is not forged. Unsure

I only received the birth cert along with the green transfer form last week Saturday. So that means I really do need to make the transfer as soon as possible while the date is still valid?

Ok thanks for the advice.
Laugh

Lisa

Hi Derric,

Just found out the cert is not forged! Whew! Laugh

I notice from the green transfer form have the breeder's signature. Stated that if I do not made the transfer after I purchase the dog they will not allow any transfer to be done. I purchase Teddy on Feb but only gets this form and cert last week Sat. Will this be a problem?
By the way, do I still need to get the breeder's signature on the back of the cert (where there stated the transferation from breeder to owner)?? Or just based on the green form (where there is the breeder's sign)??

What's the right time to contact you?

Please advice Smile
Thanks!
Regards
Lisa

Anytime is as good a time, except:
12 to 1.30PM Dalmatian feeding time.
2.30 to 4.00PM my siesta time
6.30 to 7.30PM Dalmatian playing time
8.15 to 9.45PM Out for dinner time.
BTW it is Derrick Kok, and because I am lazy at birth and forgetful at youth and now absented-minded when matured I sign off as Derrickok.

Hi Lisa,

As long as the breeder sign on the green form, that is sufficient.

Cheers

Hello Khoo,Cool

Just wondering, if let say I did not transfer the owners name would there be any problem in the future if I want to breed shih tzu?

Thanks!

MKA require the ownership be transferred before you submit for litter registration. If you don't, you will still be able to register your new litter but MKA will impose a penalty while you submit your litter registration [and you need to transfer the ownership to you at the same time ].

Hope that help.
