Beagle Club Of Malaysia? Can't Post

Hi,

I'm Jonathan.
I am keen to know from the list what the response for setting up a beagle breed club in Malaysia would be?

I've been in beagles for a few years and have 5 at home and have fostered 5 other beagles with friends.

I have been meaning to set up a beagle club in Malaysia for sometime but the number or members will be a problem.Beagle Exhibitors will only make up for a fraction and the quorum to start the club will not be met.As such the kennel assoc will not allow a club to be set up.

So if you are interested let me know.I'm still collecting names to see if we have enough!

Among activities that can be arranged would be breed talks if we can get a whole of a beagle specialist judge, perhaps a newsletter if we can, walks, a fun day like one I read about using the YMCA facilities. For exhibitors and show goers we could arrange a speciality show, pedigree referencing etc...the list goes on.....

Hopefully the club will be a reality soon to promote the breed and encourage and educate the public about the breed.

Cheers.

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan Smile,

I have an 11 mth-old beagle, our beloved house pet. I don't show her though....but we're definitely interested to join the club. In fact there is a handful of other beaglers in the forum at the moment - Tohcs, kbs, kenson, cowcow, toffee, nianyee, snoopy & carmine.....are just some names from the top of my head.

Thanks for having the initiative!! CoolCool.

Hi to all beaglers,

It's great to see such enthusiasm.
I didnt reaslize there were so many people who have beagles here.

Is everyone a member of the?
I think to be able to register a Beagle Club under the it will require all the members to be part of the.

But anyhow I suppose having a beagle social club may be an interesting start.

Where is everybody located?

I live and work in Melaka but am in KL often so KL is not a problem for me.

Any suggestions about anything at all??
I have no experience in setting up such things but am a member of the Beagle Club Of Victoria, Melbourne and the President is a good friend of mine. They are a very social group there and perhaps that is the way to start.

I'll try to seek the Kennel Assocs advise and get back to the list later on.

Cheers

Great Jonathan. We will be keeping our paws cross for the good news Wink. Whatever the outcome is we can also start a beagle club unofficially. Yeah!!!
Have you heard about the bumbling beagle club in S'pore? I know the lady that starts the club and we can also get so advice from them as well.
I do look forward to our beagles club. We can even work towards field trial one day. Wink

Many doggie cheers,

Good to hear that we also now have contact with the people from Singapore.

Field Trials may come as a bigger challenge as we need a large area for the beagles to run on and it must be fenced up unless you are sure your beagle wont run off and never return.

I have friends in Australia that have something called a "drag hunt" whereby they drag a carcass or some meat along a few kms of pasture and then release the dogs or have them on leads to scent the trail. And at the end of the trail they will bury some food. It's interesting. They run for a few kms on foot with the beagles.

But we'll have to have a large piece of fenced short grassed and safe property first.

Hi Jonathan,

I have approached MKA for the same reasons (to set up a Mini-Schnauzer Chapter). Would like to share with you the requirements..(Note: The following was verbally communicated to me. Have to write in for formal response.)

1. Must have min.50 MKA members who are willing to sign up. (Not sure if they all must be the applicable breed owners or not)

2. Form a pro-term committee : President, Treasurer, Secretary, Committee members.

3. Draft up a set of by-laws for the breed chapter.

4. Present your case to the central committee on why this chapter is set up, together with all the requirements of items 1-3.

5. Wait for approval.

Hope this helps. And it'll be great if you have more info from MKA to add to the above.

All the best to the beagle gang.Smile

Re: [arthur] Beagle Club Of Malaysia? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for the info.I did hear once about the 50 members requirement and that is the only reason why I am hesitating as I know I will not be able to find 50 beagle owners registered with MKA who are willing to join.

I was with the Rottweiler Chapter sometime ago when it was in its preliminary stages. It failed twice! But that was some years ago.And it was revived later on.

We have a lot of beagles but the problem is that they are owned by the same faces all around.50 members is a lot to ask.

Looks like I will have to do a lot more promotion before we can officially set up one.

It will be easier if the members not necessarily had beagles. Then you could support our club and we could come for your MS clubs meets too!!

I think the informal social breed group will be a good start!

What say the rest?

We could still hold breed standard discussions and fun activities.Just no speciality shows since we dont get MKAs blessings.( and who says it'll stop us)

Any opinions guys?

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Interesting question you posed regarding the 50 members. Will reply once I have more details. And I suppose as long as we keep the Beagle or MS club on an informal social basis / level, we won't be contravening MKA regulations right? Sounds like a good plan to me.

Rdgs Arthur

BTW, Nice pic of your champion beagle. Home grown and bred?

Hi Arthur,

I suppose the informal clubs will be fine by MKA.No fees and no shows so they should not bother us.

Perhaps we could hold the MS and Beagle fun day together some time.

Should be fun.I am sure the beagles will be very puzzled to see the MS.Beagles think the world comprise their species only. They still have problems understanding my rottweiler.

How do you make the photo of Pepper appear in your profile and on every messege you post?I tried all night to put Berry;s photo on but instead it appeared in an attachment.

Berry is imported from Sydney. She did very well there.Won a RBIS at 7 months old at a metropolitan show of over 1000 entries. Her owners are wondering how come she isnt able to pull off the same feat her....perhaps it's the handler!

Cheers.

Hi Jonathan,

I smiled when I read yr quote on the beagles being puzzled to see the MS. With that adorable, young face, it's hard to stay angry with a beagle not matter how naughty right? Beagles age very well I suppose, it's hard to tell a senior beagle from a youngster just by looking at their faces...

A combined beagle and MS fun day sounds great to me. Let's explore more on this.Smile

To put Berry's pic next to your profile, just email Berry's pic to the webmaster at bgkhoo@hiley.com with a short intro on yourself, what's your userid in the puppy forum. He will then do the rest. If he's busy, you may have to wait a while. Be prepared to keep a copy of the mail cos' he may request for you to resend.

WoW! Berry did very well with her RBIS at 7 mths in such a large dog show. Have you shown her yet in the local circuit?

Hi Arthur,

I hope that the MS and Beagle informal get together will be successful.I am sure it will be fun.
I think if you own beagles you will be able to tell how old they are. They have tell tale signs of aging as well as in all breeds.

Berry has not done anything spectacular here except gaining her title and some Junior In Group and In Shows. She is smaller than most bitches and appeal to more of the Asian judges and also the American and those that follow the American system which should be judges from Thailand, Philippines and HK/Japan.She will never win under an English judge.

But we are hoping to do more big things this year.
She is more matured now.Not a puppy anymore.

Catch you in Penang.

Re: [jonathan] Beagle Club Of Malaysia? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Jonathan,

Saw Berry's pic. She looks lovely Smile. May I ask how do I keep my beagle's tummy trim and fit like Berry's. Bodhi, my beagle, is 11 mths now and I notice her tummy is beginning to sag a little (excess flesh). I am conscious of her diet (not more that 1.5 cups of kibbles a day) and makes sure she has enough exercise (he daily walks usually lasts around 35-40 mins). Despite that, there seems to be excess flesh on her tummy. I'll try to post a picture if I can. Could this be a sign of overweight?

Thanks in advance Smile!

Hi people,

To answer a few questions

Smile Carmaine, you cannot change the name of your dog in the pedigree. You can add a suffix like I have. The dog I imported is Delgaeb Destined To Be.I added in my kennel name behind to become Delgaeb Destined To Be At Budveron.(I planned his name from the beginning with his breeder in Australia).

Wink Kenson, I do have photos of my new dog and will forward you one.It was taken back when he was in Australia. They are not perfect photos as he really looks better in real life.

CoolSnoopydog, if you bitch looses her tuck up which means her underline becomes saggy means she is putting on weight.Perhaps you could send me a photo one day. It's different with Berry. She has excessive tuck up.LOL.She is very active and burns up everything she eats. From what you tell me I am sure your little girl is getting enough exercise.

Destined To Be is also known as Hunter.Yes he will be shown with Berry in Penang. Is anyone going to be there?

Hi Jonathan Smile,

Here's a pic of Bodhi, proudly showing off her saggy tummy. She's not a show dog though. Having compared her with Berry, I now realise Bodhi does in fact look a bit "heavy". Nevertheless, your valued diagnosis is appreciated please Wink. Many thanks.

Smile!
