Re: [eeway] Looking for Chow Chow [In reply to] Can't Post

u can't say that as if u wanna buy then u sure must hv budget ... chow chow costs around rm1500 - 3000 , depends . better dun plc ur num. as some irresponsible breeders may make money of you...first ... before getting other replies i would have some questions to ask you:
1.) where do u stay ?
2.) budget please
3.)age , family condition
4.)experience ?
5.)will you keep ur dog for life as chow chow has life span about 11~13 years .

best way is to ask MKA for breeder list , although it may be more xpensive but it'll be worth it , or go to dog shows and you can find several good breeders there...

And before you take on the responsibility of keeping a chow chow, you must also be aware that this is a high maintenance breed esp with regards to grooming. You will have to spend a lot of time brushing the coat daily to keep it in a decent condition. Because our climate is really not suitable for the dog due to its long shaggy coat, you will also have to compensate for it and ensure that it doesn't overheat and pass out.

Hi Peng Yu,

That is why I don't want to keep a long coat breed...

But some long breeds can be so nice lah. I will only rule out long hair breeds like the St Bernard which will suffer in our climate, and those like the Afghan Hound which you have to groom till pengsan. Some long hair breeds like the poodle seem to do OK here.
