Help and advice needed Can't Post

well my dog is 2 years old already and knows a few of some trick. My mum and dad want him to learn how to fetch newspaper, slippers and other objects. But then if he learns to do a trick he will only want the snacks. I'm not sure whether he can learn at his age but he seems distracted when there's a snack. So, can i really train my 2 year old dog to fetch or is he too old not to learn fetch?

well my dog is 2 years old already and knows a few of some trick. My mum and dad want him to learn how to fetch newspaper, slippers and other objects. in order to fetch stuffs, u need to go slow, train 1 object at one time. associate the object to a word (slippers = slip?). everytime u command to fetch use same word. command him to "give" (release the slippers) treat only after he releases the slippers in front of u. soon he'l learn to get the slippers only with verbal command. gradually, decrease the treats. after completin an object, then only u move on to other objects, but still one at a time ya But then if he learns to do a trick he will only want the snacks. do not treat till he does wat u wan him to do. if both of u gets distracted , confused, frustrated, moody, take a rest & start over again I'm not sure whether he can learn at his age sure he can! but he seems distracted when there's a snack. treats' goers are much more easier to train. find out wat is his most prized treat. or get him a new treat he has never tasted before. only use this particular treat during fetch trainin So, can i really train my 2 year old dog to fetch given urself & ur doggies the patience, confidence & consistency, yes u both can or is he too old not to learn fetch? he's only 2, he's not old! good luck & keep us update ya

When I want to train my dog, I always show her tricks, she can't resist them. Once she saw the treat, she always listen to what I say and command. I don't always stick to one type of treat. Change occasionally to make your dog excited Sly Don't keep the training to long, it could bored them or worst, make them hate training section. Always be happy and remember to praise her like you never praise before...hope it helps Smile

1st thing, callin ur doggie's name = eye contact with u only (not comin to u) sayin "come" = comin to u. sayin "let's go" of "go" = follow u. make urself a super fun thing for ur doggie. remeber that doggies do things not entirely to pls u. they are most of the time selfish, watever they do must have somethin in return for em positvely. think of it in this way & u'l get a better idea

erm,5-10 minutes? When he's not interested maybe you should stop as well. I teach my dog "take a bow" and look like an eternity for me too, but with patince and love everything turns out right.I din't teach my dog fetch because I always play tug n war with her.Always smile and laugh during the process. Try make the whole training fun and short so he'll look forward to it. good luck! Wink

if sydney hates u, then make him like u and then love u by giving him treats from ur hand and caress him and sayang him max max.

then he will change to love u max max also.

then in the end. training = easier

sydney...

hmmm.. litat ah... then i tink u need more time then...

at first u must use snacks one.. a few times (in ur case, many more times) then try reduce the snacks amount.. then slowly become no snacks.. if she wont obey after many many trials, then i tink u might wanna consider going to training school.. they hav better proper method in training.. in tat case, also bond u more with sydney, and tat he will b more guai...

haha ! yeah.. i din really train molly to fetch too.. maybe nex time i will train her to fetch my stuff for me..

fetching, Vino is better.. u can consult him : Vinoviruz

Re: [Sydney] Help and advice needed [In reply to] Can't Post

sydney..

sure there's a way.,. well, is also important tat u know wat he likes and wat he doesnt.. hehe.. if not, training wont b so much fun..

how to bow:

say 'bow' --> ur right hand hold snack up high --> sydney looks up --> ur right hand lower --> sydney looks down following the snack --> ur right hand up again --> sydney looks up again --> praise him and give him the snack

do a few times with snack

then do without snack, but just ur right hand up-down-up... if sydney does it well, praise + snack

for training school.. it is expensive. but the payback is good for most dogs...mayb nex time when u hav more savings and when u hav the time lo u can do tat... depends on ur ability also

u can owes get a good training book and train sydney urself.. it makes a better bond too cus its fun

Re: [Sydney] Help and advice needed [In reply to] Can't Post

sydney...

oh.. if he panics, then u must then bring him out more often so tat he can socialise more and not b so unfamiliar with the surrounding.. soonner he will feel tat its no big deal going to places he once rarely go.. and he will feel tat its just another ordinary place

molly's brother scooby today also very scared cus 1st time outing, and owes stick to his daddy.. and when his daddy wanted to roam around and start walking.. he will stand up on his 2 hind legs and plead for stay.. but then after 1 hour litat then used to the environment and follow wherever his daddy and mummy went lio..

so.. the more gayut ur sydney is, the more exposure u need to give him.. its hard at first.. like my gurl also.. soooo excited tat wanna get here and there so i had to pull her hard.. sommore she weighs 9kg.. so u can imagine the force i need to exert on her to pull her to me.. and sommore she NEVER gets tired one.. unlike her siblings who were tired 1 hr after being so adventurous, and then guai guai follow daddy and mommy.. well, u can tell tat molly's case might b worse than sydney, cus sydney is much lighter..

molly was super excited and din guai guai follow me from 830am til 2pm.. then follow me up condo, still wanna pull me

haha the bow one i just follow wat my dad taught me.. dono la but i tink tats not the right one.. ya to bow, the front legs and the head must be on the floor.. and the hind legs on top.. so look like the graph with positive increment...

tat one my dad never taught me la.. u hav to ask melissa-jane.. she knows how to teach Amber bow..
