Sly Here's is my little advice. doesnt help at all ..

If you have small children .. guard dog is quite danger to them. Golden retriever and Labrador doesn't suits you .. they are very friendly to anyone include stranger ..

hope this helps a bit

hi there,

basicaly u need to evaluate ur family & house condition 1st. children? space? then uve gotta ask urself why u need the dog? protection against thieves tryin to break in? or jz wanna scare scare other from comin in? or jz a figure of a dog in ur lawn? from all these then only u can decide on the breed. read more posts on workin dog thread, there u'l understand fr the forumers on guard dogs. also u need to find out in advance whr u wanna send ur new pup to OB.

cheers

if ur familiar, then u should know tat guard dog/protective dog...means that they can actually attack intruders....potential breeds are german shepherd or belgian malinois....but they too require professional training...

if u juz wan a watchdog that can help to deter intruder or frighten them away....then any mutt or barky dog can be adopted...such as a mongrel or terrier....

Hi Ah Biii,

I think the guard dog you are looking at should meet your basic requirement like:

1.) Scarely look

2.) Only bark when is needed

3.) Nice to the family members especially to children

4.) Strong enought to bring down a intruder and with an powerfull jaw

5.) Tough and with muscular body

6.) Fierce to strangers and do not hesitate to attack when the life of its master is treaten

7.) No one dares to steal it (as now day so many pedigree been stolen)

8.) Easy to maintain, low food consumption and low maintainence cost

9.) Various colour and marking

10.) Look like Boxer (as you seems love Boxer so much and mentioned it so many times)

11.) Brave and loyal

If your requirements meets 9 out of the 11 points I mentioned above... The dog you should look for is American Staffordshire Terrier

I have 4 AmStaffy... they are perfect guard dog...

Hi Friend,

They banned this breed because it is very hard to differenciate when puppy, as this breed looks very alike to APBT, ASBT, Dogo Argentino, Borboel and etc...

No problem in keeping this breed, I have 4 now and bringing in another 2 sometime in february 2007. I We are actually working very hard in keeping and producing good quality AST, we have formed a AST club here and right now we have 7 puppies at 1 week old. Mxxs... forty eight.. eighty five..one hundred fifty... got it? SMS me or call me for detail. Cheer.....

Hi kaychia,

I have no heard about such thing happened in Penang, but m not sure about KL.

Keeping only 1 guard dog to guard the house is not enought, my opinion is at least 3. And to me the best guard dog is female. Reason... easy to train, won't run away from your house if there is any female dog on heat around your house. Hehehehe!

Hahaha....FrownSeems that a lot ppl champion having a female dog coz easy to train and won't run off like male...

But, when your female fat hau, sure lots of male dogs coming to your door edi. Also problem...have to try to fend them off. Especially if you say you have sooo...many...Wa....sekaligus sure every tom dick & harry within KM radius flock to your house....
