I have just bought a 2 mths old toy poodle from a pet shop about a week ago. Initially she was quite obedient although she doesn;t understand any command at all and not toilet trained.
However, things chged in the past 2 days. She tried to bite my hands when teething. I said a firm 'NO' and tried to give her chew toys. Usually she will just bite her chew toy instead after a few attempts. However, this time, instead of chewing her toy, she turns and growl and tried to bite me. I was a bit shock and use newspaper to bit her lightly at her butt. She was stunned for a while and try a few attempt again.
Issit true that all pups will go thru some 'dominance' issue stage? I am telling my siblings to cage her and ignore her each time she tried to growl and bite. Not sure if I am doing it rite?

Hi jessica, i have the same situation as yours just a few days ago. My new puppy was trying to show her dominance and bit my bf's hand when they were playing. It wasn't just any playful bite. What he did was to hold her mouth for a few seconds until she has calm down and say a firm NO. She got the message and didn't do that again. Perhaps you can try this on your poodle. Good Luck.

Hi there,
Just a few tips, you must not ignore them when bad behavior. Try to be with them closely till he obey your command and praise is most important. OLIVER

Hi,
Thanks for the advise. My sasha currently likes to jump on people to bite the toe, finger etc....sigh.....not all the time but usually during playtime...not sure if she considers that as playing or is it because she is 'teething'.....so now, i'l alwiz give her toys to bite when she is like dat....but she still prefers to bit ppl's toes and fingers instead of toy...so i'l try to say 'NO' and hold her down each time she did it....hopefully it'l get better.......

hi,
when he barks in the cage, ignore him...shut him out from other family members in the house....let him feel that he is ignored.....initially he might bark even louder.....but u hv to bear with it...once u hear that he has stop barking, go to him and reward him......soon he will learn that barking will only make him more secluded from the family.....
hope he learns it fast
