Hi Meijiun,

I can understand how bad we must feel that a dog was left to die. But, in all fairness, we should not crucify the establishment, in this case, the Pet Safari, because this predicament was probably due to an individual's negligence and poor judgemnt. If you know the inside story, you would know that the management was unaware at that time, that such a cruel act was committed. The best part is, despite this, they were willing to face the music.

Let's be fair and face it. The Pet Safari is probably the most comprehensive Pet Specialist Centre in town. It has brought products and services into Malaysia previously unavailable to Malaysians. In short, it has brought the pet industry into a different level. I'm sure a lot of people will lose the benefits of better and newer products if things were to go sour and if it were to close down because we choose to be ignorant and see only one side of the picture.

In short, I would like to commend you on your big heart and feeling bad for this poor little puppy. But let's be bigger than that too and not punish an entire organization for one man's sick act.

I understand that you may be upset over what happened. To be frank, I'm extremely upset too!! But that does not warrant me to be the judge and in your case, (the jury) and decide weather or not it is due to an individual's negligence. It is quite unfair to assume that everybody working there is free and standing around doing absolutely nothing and therefore it is impossible for them to have missed it. I'm sorry to have been that direct.

Look, I'm an animal lover myself. I personally know the vet at the pet safari and I know that if he were aware of this incident, he would have done something. The fact is that the dog was left to die in a secluded area where it was out of sight to most people. It is the person that left the dog to die that should be punished and not the establishment!

Imagine if you worked at a factory making world class pencils and your family's living and future depended on your income alone. What if because of one faulty pencil, not by your doing I might add, everyone decides not to buy your company's particular brand of pencil and your factory has to close down? Be logical and wise when making such decisions. Does one faulty pencil make the entire brand unsafe?

Put your hand on your heart and (I'll ask everyone reading this to do the same) when you walk into the Pet Safari, ask yourself this question, have you in all your life seen a pet shop that carries such a wide and contemporary range of products in Malaysia? Go and personally count the number of pet food brands available, the number shampoos, treats and what have you not. It is simply unmatched. Now, ask yourself, what if this place has to close down and your pet's life depended on a product that was only sold there? I bet you would be thinking differently.

You think this is personal negligence? Only 1 person caring for the doggie at that place? Don't think so la can't be 1 person take care the doggie there all the time right. Tongue

I don't mine if the place close down atleast less animal suffering and died like the poodle. Like you say if the vet there know about this sure he will do something but that fact that he don't know!!!

The product that they are selling very expensive sumore no discount

. Sorry I don't realise the place carry full range of dog product. Blush

As there are some brand I never heard of don;t dare to buy to my doggie summore the staff there are not knowlegeble about the product they are selling Frown

Me & my wife go there every weekend for gym will just drop by that place go 1 round and see all those poor doggie in the cage Blush

. Look at the dog they are selling. Look at the Silky Terrier selling there just today 28/8/2005. Super mini size Silky Terrier (irresponsible breeder), Big stomach (suspect got worm), dull coat & watery eye (Malnutrition), No water available, & dandruff. Very Sad la I every week go there and look at this poor doggie.

But the best thing is they provided Installment available for purchasing dog there.

But, from my point of view...I think these people who neglected this sick puppy are very very irresponsible and I wonder their heart is make of iron or something else? How can they see this puppy is suffering and refuse to send to vet. This is very offensive. I used to be regular to Pet Safari, after I read that news, I decided not to buy anything from them. They are so sick!

i totally agree wif u...dats y after i know about this incident..i wanna let all dog lovers know n aware of wat this pet shop has done to this poor puppy...i feel so sad after reading this news....didnt know this could happen to a famous pet shop in PJ....im also one of the regulars in pet safari...only few days ago i went there to buy my dog food..if i knew n heard this news earlier i wouldnt have gone there to buy the food..... Frown

im really really disappointed wif the incident that haf happened.....although buddhist believe that they should not euthanize...but issit also a buddhist believe to leave a sick dog to die just like dat????????

When I read everyone's posting, I'm very sad..... Sad for the puppy that died and even sadder that people in general do not see the big picture. They choose to live in their well and believe what they want to believe. Mr. Khoo, do you think that suppliers do not need the Pet Safari to showcase thier products? Do you think that just because you want to import a product such as pet food, it is as simple as going into the net and placing your order? What quantities are you prepared to order before you get the kind of discounts that mega stores get?

Mr. Chrissong, I'm truely amazed that you go there every weekend to view puppies being mistreated but then you just stand around and not take action about it! Why didn't you stand up for the puppies if you were truly a dog lover and tell the owners or the management off? Instead, you decide to go behind and crucify an entire organization. Why?.... I'll tell you why, because it is probabbly easier to do so!

I'm ashamed, ashamed that the Pet Safari has allowed this to happen, ashamed that we humans who have evolved and are supposedly far superior to other animals, but are capable of mistreating another life. Mostly, I'm ashamed of the people who make loud noises and point fingers when there is such an occurence, but do not in actuality, do anything. Why the hypocrisy? Do you really care? What have you really done or are prepared to do to help this animal or other animals who may suffer the same fate? My guess is probably nothing... I'm sad to say that outwardly all your concerns seem genuine but inwardly, you seem to be more enthusiastic about destroying someone's reputation than bettering the situation. This will be my last posting on the subject. I hope all of you sleep well tonight.

Hey Addict...I guess you must be thinking the whole Malaysia only got ONE pet shop which is Pet Safari!! There are many other petshops also sell those imported dog food. We are not destroying their reputation but they choose to destoy it by themselves for being irresponsible. There are so many workers, dont tell me everyone of them are so busy until dont have the time to call a vet or something. It's such a sick act! Dog has life, too. Their life also as valuable as human's. It really shock me when I read this news, plus the picture of the miserable puppy...it's so offensive to humane people! Mad

We are not making loud noise or point the finger to them. It's a FACT that they mistreat and being inhumane to puppy. Errmm...I also wonder are you one of the Pet Safari's employee or the boss?

Go there and tell the management about the mistreat animal or the dog that should not be selling at the age of 7 week old and below???

Do you think the management will want to listen to you???? They will only say to you - who are you? telling them how to management their business.

Can you please tell me what can I do??? I really want to know how???

Haha. some people like to leave comments and leave . wonder why.

Some people are just interested in making money.

That poor puppy was left to die. Animals don't just DIE suddenly. I'm sure the puppy was suffering for a very long time before it had to die. There would have been plenty of time to send the puppy to the vet. But it didn't even get that chance.

Because no one bothered.. or maybe no one noticed, even worse.

If a staff is negligent and to be blamed for this, then Pet Safari is vicariously liable because it is their responsibility to make sure their staff are doing their job. Which obviously they can't even do properly. Useless.

As a matter of fact, I do take action if you must know. I constantly tell the staff to pick up the shit and complain directly to the owner of the puppy section that some dogs are getting too big for their cages. If they do not do anything, at least my conscience is clear...As to reply to Modjo or whoever your name is, you are right to say that the pet safari is not the only pet shop in town. However, are you so ignorant as to think that such an incident has only happened at the pet safari? tsk! Tsk! Think again..(that's if you even think at all) before you gun down and slander others. Don't forget that when you point a finger, there are three fingers pointing right back at you! All you can say is that the staff are useless, didn't do anything, blah! blah! blah! like an old woman. Have you even ran an establishment of this magnitude before? If you're that capable, you would probably be the boss of one. By the way, If you must know, I'm not the boss of the safari. I just visit it often (like you mr. Chrissong) but unlike you, I have the guts to speak up and not hide behind my computer! Also, I am not running away..... It's just that I am disgusted that everyone tries to make a meal of this! I agree with u at least to the extend that we should listen to both party or like what u called "look into the big picture" before u comment.

Not to feel strange abt being attacked 1 side down here as some of the ppl are kinda "following tail" type.

another thing is pet safari is roofing different sections from different owners, which means if u feel that the dog selling section is so worst, BUT u go & ban the products section, then it is so UNFAIR!

oh of corse, im not a staff of pet safari, well if any of u were to say im the boss, let it be. haha.. laugh out loud y ppl loves to conclude without looking it in details?

Thank you so much! At least i finally got through to someone who understands the situation and is matured enough to see the whole picture. If those dimwits or whatever they chose to call me, even bothered to comprehend the article that was written, they would have known that the pet shop responsible for the cruel act was the "wonderful world of pets", a sub-tenant of the pet safari. Again, if you have read the article, you would have made out that the place is an economic grouping of a few players under one roof. In this case, the puppy player is responsible for the act. He should be shot! But, does it mean that the poor sales man selling fishes at the fish section should get buried too? Shallow minded and people looking for a witch hunt will tell you YES! But then again, they are shallow people and that is why they will remain where they are for the rest of their lives.... Sad....

For all of you who bludgeoned me for standing up and saying what i feel is just, i say thank you! You have just proven my case to the many number of people who will be reading this forum. Anyone with any sense of discernment will be able to see that behind this all, you have your own private agendas of being "heard". Maybe you are the type of people who can only make yourselves feel better by putting other people down. Very sad.... Go ahead! Make a meal of it! You'll only make yourselves look really gooood! Oh!
