Housebreaking help Can't Post

Many threads are being posted regarding housebreaking help. May I offer some suggestions.

First, young dogs need to be taken to their toilet area first thing in the morning, after eating, drinking, playing and chewing. Take them out on as regular of a schedule as you can. Feed them at the same time each day.

When they are indoors, keep them on a leash and keep them beside you in every room. If you see them circle or sniff or squat, clap your hands, hit the wall or a table. Any loud noise will make them clamp down and not go. Then take them to the place you want them to go and tell them to go. If they do, praise them. If they dont, just keep them near you on a leash or in a crate.

Never hit a dog for any reason. It will make things worse.

If you have a male dog, make sure the penis is washed every few days. Excessive urine buildup on the penis will give him the urge to go too often.

If your dog is a year old, he/she should be able to hold it for a few hours at a time with no problem. Dont keep taking him to pee, just keep him on a leash and do the above if you see him start to pee or poop.

This might take from a few days to several weeks, depending on the dog. Be patient and don't quit.
