Are you interested in learning how to hand strip your westie?
Why is hand stripping important for your westie? Westies have hard coats. The hair on their backs is wiry. This wiry hair does not fall out on it’s own like the fur on other dogs like GSDs and Retrievers. Nor should it be cut like poodle hair. Old hair has to be pulled out so that new hair can grow from the follicles. If the old hair is not removed, it will just remain where it is. New hair has to grow and the new hair will force its way through the skin around the sides of the follicles. This will cause skin inflammation and irritation and is very uncomfortable for your westie. The constant skin irritation will stress your westie’s immune system and harm your westie’s overall health in the long term.
The simple act of hand stripping your westie’s coat will benefit you and your westie in the long run. The benefits are to your westie’s overall health as well as savings on vet fees!
Hand stripping is not difficult and enjoyable for your westie. It doesn’t take long when you know how to do it and can be part of your weekly grooming sessions with your westie.
What you will learn:
Teaching will be one to one. Bring your westie and I will show you how to hand-strip your westie and guide you while you do it yourself. I will show you how to thin and shape your westie’s coat to achieve that well-groomed westie look. Learn how to do it yourself and save on the cost of sending your dog to a professional groomer who does not specialise in westie coats and may not hand strip your westie’s coat.
The cost is RM170 for the session.
The duration is the time it takes to complete the job. This could be up to 3 hours but is estimated at 2 hours with breaks in between.
The session will be held in my house. I live in PJ. Email me at aquabotanica at hot mail with your contact details if you have any queries and I will get back to you.
