well i have not groomed a leonberger but anyway its a rare to find leonberger here.. they dont need much grooming right?...just like saint bernard...very basic will do...no professionals grooming needed unless its a show dog.. u have oine? Lots of love to my beloved Ritchieboy who has left us on Jan 11 2004..May god bless him

Right, they have to be shown in “natural” and that means not much grooming allowed. However, my dog is our pet and we do not show her, so we can trim, cut and groom the way we feel is suitable for the Malaysian way of life (tropical lifestyle), e.g. shorten the feathered portion, trimming the mane and shaving inner thighs and part of the belly. The claws are most difficult to cut, since they are black and you can’t see anything. My friend did de-shed his dog, but I feel that this is a little extreme measure.
