OOppss.. but how shall I train her on this command?
I can think of using 'CARRY' as command, but I'm sure she will bite on the basket or the stuffs I put in the basket.
May be this need to have 2 person, 1 at one end to put stuffs in the basket and commands her go to another person and pass over the stuffs in order to get her treat without dropping any stuffs in the basket.
i think you can start with a dumb bell with his carry command ..asked him to sit infront of you ...you introduce the dumb bell with one hand then after that show him a treat on the other hand...then keep your treat on your pocket ...for sure he will sniff you pocket introduce the dumb bell to him do this for few time a day...soon he lost interest with the treat and concentrate on the dumb bell (he is carryiong it)....do this for few day you will se results....he will carry the dumb bell waiting for you to give the treat...to him is when he carry the dumb bell in his motuh he will recieve treat and praise slowly your proceed to basket carrying.....happy trying......
(1) Get a small pail/basket that is light in weight. (2) Place the pail/basket a short distance away (3) Your dog will move towards the basket to sniff and find out what is "that thing you put on the floor" (if your dog does not do that you may rub some cheese on the handle). (4) The moment your dog goes near the basket CLICK and TREAT your dog (5) Do this a few times then up the anti (or requirement) (6) Now click/treat when the dogs mouth touches the handle of the basket (7) Now again after a few times up the anti (requirement) (8) Click and treat only when your dog put its mouth on the handle. (9) Up the anti (10) Click treat when dog holds basket in mouth (11) Up the anti (12) Click treat only when dog holds basket in mouth and move (13) Up the anti etc etc untill dog walks and carry basket around.
Hope this helps. The above will take lots of training session and many days so be patient. What is click / treat and clicker ? Well if you have seen a demo done by Belle (my naughty) beagle girl during the Mipes demo the thing I held in my hand is a clicker.
Well Belle still have a long long way to be good in her tricks but she is learning.
Initially you need to introduce the click to her. Get a clicker ( you might not find one here locally) but you can use a childs click toy (ie. something held in hand that goes CLICK) . OR alternatively you may CLICK with your tongue. (ie make a sound like chicken clucking). Okay once you have click give the dog a treat, Do this a few times. Once your dog have master the click represent a treat then only do you move on the teaching your dog tricks like the basket carrying.
Hope I have not make the above sound complicated. Happy training.

I m trying to get a small pail by walking around complex or toy shop but i just cant get one that suit my training lesson. either the basket too big or else made of rottan. I want something my dog can not bite and spoil~
how shall it knows which steps carry out will get the treat?! pls help~
That is when the "Click" comes in. You Click the moment the dog carries out the right steps. Eg. Initially click the moment the dog gets near the pail/basket - this tells the dog "Good you are moving in the right direction" Do this a few times. Next don't click when the dog just go near the pail , wait till the dog put it's mouth near the handle then CLICK. (note : you can rub butter on the handle initially ) Again do this a few times. Next up the requirements. Don't click just for putting its mouth on the handle but CLICK only when your dog put is mouth on the handle. etc etc etc.... You did mention your dog already knows the fetch command so meaning to say it has learn how to hold something in is mouth. So perhaps when the dog gets near the pail you say the word "FETCH me the pail" - so it will know that you want it to put its mount on the handle . Well the trick takes a few training sessions before a full completed trick is achieved. Well GOOD LUCK!
By the way as for the pail check out toy's 'r' us you can get those small pail kids used to take along to the beach to play sand castle or you can aslo go to small toy shops (eg PJ old town) and ask if they have a small pail.
Happy training!
