I know what you mean.Dobies are actually good watch and guard dogs. But they are also a lot of fun as a family pet. They can be very well mannered and gentle too. Can't wait to get my hand on some new pups. Fingers crossed!
Hi Karen, Dobes are a lot of fun, fast and loads of energy.. My dobe (Nicole) has her own preference for different people that's around her. My advice is early socialization to new ppl and situations would be good for the dog.

Hi ! I got her when she was a 10 weeks old import last year. She about 13 months now. She is very sweet and playful with my children but suspicious of strangers or animals. I like dobes coz they are sleek and fast. I did not crop the ears coz I wasn't sure at the time to do it or not although it does look more fierce with a nice ear set. Since I'm not showing the dog, it doesn't matter. I don't know any breeders but I'm sure our forum mates and MKA can assist.( There are some nice dobes shown at last saturday's dog show) You should not rush but try to get a better understanding about the breed. Dobes like others got their pros & cons. May other dobe owners in the forum can also chip in. What is your main intentions in getting a dobe ?

Main Intentions?? Firstly bcoz I've always loved dobies. I too think they are sleek and full of energy. I also need a good watch and guard dog for my home but mostly bcoz of the company that we can share. I've done quite a lot of research and at the moment I'm reading a book about dobermanns. What's better than taking a handsome dobie for a walk!
Hmmm.. Your love for the dobe is the utmost importance. They are natural watch dogs and with some good training will be trusted guard dogs and companion.
