I do agree with u that many poodles are over dolled by their owner ... I keep Ladee's coat short for easy maintainance & she has a teddy bear look on her face...
There are a variety of hairstyles for the poodle but the original clip (Continental/ English Saddle) with the pom poms have a purposed... poodles originated as water retrievers… the long coat they had gets wet & becomes heavy in water… so the area behind the ribs are shave to make movement easier & small tufts of hair are left around the joins especially at the ankles are to keep them warm… the hair around the rib cage are left long to help protect the heart & chest form cold…

Used to have a chow but dun have much memories of him. All I remember is that he seems to be huge! ( at tat time I was like 4/5 yrs old when the pix was taken with me and chow chow)
Golden colour, as I recall. Though he looks fierce, but he's tame with kids like me then. I heard that I tried cutting off his paw using a plastic knife! U know kids larr, always playing around.
But I've this MS, DeeDee, who's rather short-tempered. I do not think he will take it kindly if I do a smilar act on his paw! hehe
