Hi Alpha Jenn, As the word suggest, this is a fun contest where the dogs are match up 2 by 2 and the loser is knocked out and the winner goes on to the next round. Its a knock out competition. There are no classes or age grouping and a puppy can actually be matched against a adult dog. Its the luck of the draw. It is not a championship show so no CCs are awarded. It is a show suitable for those who are new to the game or for those who wants to try out new dogs. There will ultimately be an unbeaten dog and this will be the BIS dog. There will be prizes donated by sponsors. The last one was held last year at Klang Parade and was organised by the S,gor/FT branch. I dunno when or where the next one will be held. and one more thing, there is no entry fees for this competition.
thanks to your question and my reply above my title has been changed to 'Member' from 'Dog Kichi'........Funny, this title thingy has also got me interested Hahaha Now I know 50 posting u become Dog Kichi, 100 posting u become a Member so Khoo got T-shirt for me also ah hahaha
Good question. There was one match exemption show held sometime in the 3rd qtr of 2002 at Klang Parade, Selangor. In a nutshell, it's a free for all, knock out type of competition. As you register, you pick your own exhibit number. You then proceed to the score board to see which exhibit number you are up against in round 1. There are no breed class or age, so your puppy ECS could be up against an adult Doberman! You go thru the same judging procedure..stacking, gaiting etc. The judge picks a winner which then advances into the next level. Loser is knocked out immediately.
The Klang parade match exemption show drew approx 60+ entries. We were split into 2 groups (A & B) of 30 entries each. Round 1 had 15 matches which cuts the number down to 15 entries per group. This was repeat in Round 2 cutting the entries by half again and so on till the final was between the winner of Group A and Group B. The Best in Show was a lovely goldie puppy called Brinkley also!
Oh yes..only doggies that have NOT won a CC are allowed to enter. This is to even out the playing field.
Yeah I was there with Sharon and our Lee Ron boy..That time he was still a puppy. Round 1 he went up against a Great Dane ! Managed to get thru that round. However he was knocked out at round 2 against a lovely black American Cocker Spaniel sporting a gorgeous coat... Still it was good fun.
Should have more of these shows. Great way to get the feet wet in preparation for the real Championship shows.
Hey thanks all of you for the info! Sounds like a fun fun show!
Just got the entry form from MKA... the next one's on 9th March at 1pm (check in 12.30pm) at KLang Parade. Am thinking of taking both Luckey and Brinkley. Wow, last BIS was another golden pup called Brinkley huh? how old? Should be good experience for our furballs before the MIPE show...
DO.. DO.. DO remember to please save up one 'M' size shirt for me... this is ONE of the MAIN reason i am going down to KL, eventhough i am going to be so broke after coming back from my holiday a week before MIPE.. beside getting free Lo Mai Kai from Boon! ha! ha! Thanks ya!!!
hehe... well it'll be brinkley's first time and luckey's second... should be fun! It's rather like Luckey's last show, coz in her last show she was in minor puppy which means all breeds compete against each other in the same class...
Oh cool!!!! Nice to have someone we know going! So which schnauzer is this?
I'm trying to get Chris to handle Brinkley, coz at first I was going to, but dun think luckey would lik that at ALL! chris missed class today so i gave brinkley a lil training session tonight, and luckey was watching out the kitchen window and going berzerk!!!
The match exemption show sounds fun~ When will be the next one held and where? Will the send us the form or we can register on the spot since there's no categories... Roughly how much will be the entrance fee?
Eve, I just found out the next match show is this Sunday 9/3/02 at Klang Parade. Apparently MKA has sent out the entry forms but I didn't receive mine.........Since u r from Penang I don't think its worth while to come down so far for this show. I remember Penang MKA branch also organises such show b4. There are no entry fees for such show.
Jennifer, I dont think I'll be entering my dogs for the show. I might just go there and give u guys support.
Yeah, I think it's fun but not worth me going down with Jaz... but it's going to be really good exposure for first timer for ppl like eve and me... especially when Jaz will act and bark as when she likes this kind of competition, we can seriously consider to let her enter! ha! ha!
