Hi ...

Your dog is still young ... and it's basic guard and territorial instincts will only just be starting to kick in ... these instincts develop as the dog gets older ... Please be aware that the guard & territorial instincts in a Rottie will be strong.

What is most important now is for you to ensure that your young dog gets sufficient "socialisation" with other people & with other dogs ... This is a very important part of bringing up a pup/young dog, especially a breed with strong guard instincts.

Socialisation is a process of letting your dog get used to other people & dogs ... this will teach your dog to be more confident and comfortable in the presence of strangers and strange dogs.

Good socialisation will help your pup/young dog grow into a mature dog that is not undully defensive or fearful - and will help your dog mature into a stable and reliable adult that does not bark or growl unnecessarily or for no good reason.

Use the SEARCH FUNCTION at the top of this page and search the topic "socialisation". This issue has been discussed before, and there is information available.

Cheers

Hi ...

You are most welcome.

With proper socialisation ... your Rottie will grow into a stable and reliable adult dog that is confident & secure ... A confident dog will not need to bark or growl unnecessarily ... and will learn to distinguish between friendly people & dogs from unfriendly people & dogs ...

well every dog have its own personality...u cant assume that they are all the same..if that was the case, it wont be special anymore..hehhee..
I think ur doggie need some training, maybe u should find out the reason that your rottie is scare of you..maybe one of reason ur rottie is fierce toward your neighbour dog is maybe she felt she is treaten. CAn i ask most of the time she bark is to male doggie? Cause my doggie is like that..
If you wan u rottie to be tough and on guard, i suggest u a pro. helper should be your next solution...hehe:P
Well take care
