weird behaviour Can't Post

This is a very weird behaviour of my pup -JOJO. I still can not figure it out why she doing that.. if someone read this and know what is happening pls let me knowWink Thank you.

Whenver I clean up her place and put back the fresh water for her, when times I left her, JOJO will then use her head to push the newspaper on the floor (I put on for her) to the water bowl. Why she do that? She will make all the newspaper wet (sometimes will take the wet paper out again and lie on the floor) and the bowl full of newspaper.

Beginning my husband told me that may be she trying to get my attention to clean her place again (Because she will look at us if we pass by and look at her bowl again and cry), so we trying to ignore her behaviour and let it be til the dinner times only clean it again. We though if we ignore her she will stop this weird behaviour because til the end the water is for her to drink..

Up to today still she doing that whenever I come back late and miss her jogging time to the park. I feel very frustrated see the bowl always full of newspaper and I worry she don't have water to drink.

Anyone know why my dog behave like that????

well, i think the pup does that only for one reason, FUN! mine, a 4 months old ECS, always soak her whole head into the drinking bowl all day long! the water too gets mess up and i keep on changing the water (last time once a day, now 3-4 times a day). or try another way, at night, when i put her back into the hut (4 x 4 feet with a 3 x4 feet outdoor compound) i'll place a drinking botol for her (those from the pet shop specially for pups) then she'll not mess up herself at night. i don't mind letting her messing up herself as long as she's happy and fill her free time happily, i'm ok. let her play with soil, sand etc. i think pups expose more to the environment will have better health? immune system will built up better? (my own theory) of course don't forget the deworming tablets.

hi, thanks for the info.

I think true also lah.. coz she very naughty and manja one.Unsure

I'm totally argree with u that sometimes we need to let them can behave like a dog. May be they feel happier in that way?! Unsure Thats why sometimes I even let her digging in the garden, however I provide her a sandpits.

The 'bottle' idea is great. I'm thinking to get one those hang reverse one right? May be in that way her place will look more clean. I feel frustrated cause I provide her a pillow in her bed. Sometimes she 'play' with the newspaper makes all the floor wet and if she take out the pillow lie on the floor will then wet and dirty again.Mad

But anyone know how to correct her this behave?

Smilewell, mine even worse. she'll poo at the compound that i provided while she's in the cage, then she'll pull out the blanket and plays at the compound! imagine that! after all the rolling, stepping and jumping.... eeuwww. i'll throw the blanket away the next morning. after sometimes, i don't provide her the blanket anymore since there's no blanket left and she's also grown bigger and stronger. then, i put a crate into the cage. she'll sleep in the crate when the night is cold, if not, she'll sleeps every where in the cage. Smile maybe when the time comes, just take the pillow away. or try to tie, sew or whatever to keep the pillow in the bed. ( better don't tie might be dangerous)

tell u what.. she bite the pillow a hole and 'dig' out all the content inside. So now I don't provide her anymore pillow.Mad

I m thinking to shift her stay in the garden soon may be about next week and let her free over there may be this can help her reduce stress. This was because now she still sleep insideUnsure hope that can help..

SmileHi, since she's still young, u better put her in the cage at night. coz puppy are just too playfull, they might mess up the whole place, accidently eat up something that she's not suppost to, pee poo at the wrong place, or the worst, sneak out from the house or got stolen or attack by other animals! for my dog, she's now 4 months plus and still i keep her in her cage everynight. i only let her out during the day time. i'll only let her have 100% freedom when she reaches the adult size and that's about 6 months??

SmileAiyo! she did that?! u better bring her to the vet as socks are big and it gets stuck in the intestine very easily. i've seen some cases that the dog has to go through the operation to bring the socks out! check if she is not feeling well after u go home today. better bring her for a check.

dog eats anything, especially puppies. mine ate ballon, stone, flowers, charcoal, plastics, rubber gloves, broom brush, etc. i'll shout and use the things to whack his/her mouth and order "NO". since then, they didn't dare to steel my socks etc anymore.

better still, bring her to he vet ok?

wow she ate your sock? how big is your pup?

well my mum's cocker swallowed a chicken drumstick whole once - he managed to steal from our dinner table... so scary, specially since chicken drums can splinter in the stomach... but 2 years later he is as ok as ever... wonder what happened to that bone!

they won't digest the sock since these r nilon. maybe in a few days time the sock will come out, if she's lucky.

but about the diarrhea pup, i think it might drink or ate something dirty. like mine, before she take the last injection, she kept on "curi minum" from the adults (dogs' drinking bowl). she did lau sai a bit. but after she has completed her vaccination, she's ok now.

hi,

up to last night then only i know what my JOJO weird behaviour mean.Wink We bought him a BIG chewing bone pass few days and she chew into small pcs, we saw she took one of the small piece put in the hole he dig in the garden and use her nose to cover it back with soil.Crazy She sniff around that area (may be to memorise the area he burried her 'bone') before she leave it.

This behaviour is same as when she was young using the newspaper to cover her water bowl, even it sounds bit ridiculous that she need to protect her water, may be she doesn't understand paper will only soak all her water up..LaughLaugh

Hi!!

I have the same problem with Sparkle too. I used to think he was really quick in chewing all his chew bones...so I bought new ones to replace the ones that i thought he "finished up". Just the other day I found 3 of his half chewed chew bones and some of his toys that mysteriously disappeared under the microwave cabinet! I think that's like this treasure chest...just in case he gets bored, he knows where to get toys and food?? Wink

wah! where have u been? u didn't show up for quite some time. shifted to a new house? i thoight u were from Sunway last time?

mine will never hide things but simply throw everywhere. every night before i go to bed, i'll have to go round the house to find their bone. while asking them "where is the bone?" (in cantonese) and they'll make a "eh?! ya hoh! where is the bone ha?!" face. and follow me round the house too. KAkaka. but some times i got tired and just let them figure it out themselves. i help them to look for it as i'm affraid that they might leave it under the car and it is very dangerous to the dog if someone didn't notice it while driving the car (and they might enjoy chewing the bones under the car!). i train them to stay in the crate when i'm driving out or in but sometimes it is hard to say they'll be 100% remember my command especially when i'm not at home.

Hello all,
I laugh out loud when i was reading this thread! So funny the way you guys describe about your dogs.
My dog has funny behaviour too. Whenever I fed him, he refuse to eat and then push the bowl away to a corner. If there's a cloth available, he will cover the cloth over the food.
WEIRD!?
My dog also like to squat and then rub his backside against the floor. I ve read it somewhere that dogs do that because the shit is stuck in their anal. something like that. Is it healthy?

Re: [doodle] weird behaviour [In reply to] Can't Post

Halo!

I guess every dogs have their own behavior. I guess my dog has the same behaviour as yours. Whenever I feed her (on a piece of plastic bag - I'll explain whey later) n if she doesn't like the food , she'll pushes the plastic bag n the food away until the food fall on the ground. N if she finishes her food n I forgot to throw the plastic bag away, she'll bite it into pieces, very destructive huh? I never feed her on a bowl because she likes to push the bowl around, here n there n its very noisy.

She's really very destructive. If I let run around off guard, she will dig out plants fr the garden n make a big hole. Why is she doing this???
Any reason. N guess what - she likes to eat tissue paper.
