Thanks for such a warm welcome! It should be fun here- I’ve never belonged to a multiple-breed forum before, I usually stay around the APBT and AST forums. This should be good for me :) Elly: Hmmm. . .do they fight? Well, to answer that question, no- because they aren’t allowed. . . but they would if they could. Dog aggression is something that’s common with APBTs because they were bred for it for so many years. A well bred APBT should be dog aggressive, and mine are. They have to remain separated, and do not have contact with each other or any other dogs. Occasionally with early socialization, APBTs can live around other dogs and animals- but they should NOT be trusted not to fight, and should be crated when no supervision is available. Since it appears that their aren’t many APBT owners here, I just wanted to clarify the difference between human aggression and dog aggression- they are COMPLETELY different! Normally dog aggression is a territorial thing. Human aggression should not be tolerated in ANY breed of dog. A human aggressive APBT is NOT a good representation of the breed, should not be tolerated, and should immediately be put down. Training usually does not solve this problem in APBTs because it is normally an issue that occurs with bad breeding (which is why, as you will find, I am a FANATIC for responsible breeding) The best and safest solution is to put the dog down- PERIOD. Querida: Are my dogs fierce? To answer your question, no, my boys are not fierce or vicious. Well, they may lick you to death, LOL ;) They both have sound temperaments and are good with people- even small children. If they weren’t I wouldn’t own them for the reasons I explained above. They do look scary sometimes, and they terrify most parents to death! But really, they’re just a couple of lil’ lovers!!!!! -AjaSage Good Sites: www.americanstaffordshireterrier2002.org www.wpbtca.com www.workbulldog.com
