Hey Lilo,

Dogs barking at ppl passing by their hse is quite normal, it does not mean that they are aggressive. At 5 mths of age your dog is becoming more mature compared to 3 mths and he now realised that your hse is his territory and he's most likely just guarding his territory. Unless he has shown signs of aggression when ppl go near him or try and pat him by showing teeth and snapping at them, then I wudn't worry much. If you're worried that he might be aggressive in the future then start socialising him well. Bring him out to meet different ppl and different dogs, let him get used to them and their presence. When you hv ppl visiting your hse, ask the ppl to pat him or play with him.

Are you staying in KL? If you are we are having a b'day party cum doggie gathering on the 25/01 at Kota Kemuning....you can join us for the fun and bring your MS along to meet all the dogs....check out the Event Calender for more details on the outing Smile

Jaz is having the same problem as well.. especially when we are around, and we have stranger walk passes our door, she will be alert and start barking non-stop, until we shuts her up. She wasn't like this before.... Mad, but if it were to be my friends, she will bark abit and then start going crazy, jumping and running about and gets excited...

Hey i'll be glad if my dog is able to bark at strangers and yet i still hv control over the dog by telling her to be quiet and she listens....you'll appreciate it if someone tries to beak into your home and your dog alerts u rather than keeping quiet....Biscuit used to be a very quiet dog in our apartment back in Pg....never barked, very silent dog....but now he is very good at barking whenever someone's at the door or when he hears strange noises...probably coz he can see the outside view more frm the hse....he does listen sometimes when i tell him to be quiet....but only sometimes Crazy

hhmmpphh.. i suppose you've got a good point. We use to taught him how to 'speak'. Everytime, we place our palm on our chin and say 'speak' she would bark!... this was during those good old days when she doesn't bark that often... now, we are trying to quiet her down when stranger pass by.. and at times, we still ask her to 'speak' which i feel, kinda contradict ourselves and confuses her.. one minute we ask her to keep quiet, one minute we ask her to speak.. hhaaaiiiiiiii...Unsure

dont' think the speak command has that much to do with the barking... i taught juno how to speak and she barks quite alot at strangers coming into the house... but Luckey also very good at speaking on command, but she doesnt bark that much. Only when other dogs bark at her.

hi lilo,
i think what ginl said i right ...bring you MS to go for a walk every evening if you can .....make sure your MS also socialise with dogs and peoples......then teach your dog the speak command alone with your MS then you try it the speak command again when you friend is around......Wink..but sometimes when your dog bark at starnger is good you know...atleast you are alert that someone is near your gate.........
