Help! Puppy is coming! Can't Post

I've recently bought a female shih tzu from a breeder. This tricolor furkid is 3 month old with very good temperament. All 3 vacinations have been done and dewormed. Now the questions.
Should I be getting a medium or small size slicker brush? Tips/links for grooming welcome.

I am continuing his diet with Canidae but is there other better or equal and cheaper alternative for shih tzu?

As for the ear drop, is it necessary? or water can do the job?

When will she first get her heat and what will the tell tale sign be?

What are the things I should get from the breeder? Like the vaccination record....

I got most the stuff ready for her and will be picking her up this Saturday. So excited!!! Thanks everyone!

Regards,
Mr.Chris

For shih tsu grooming, I found this link for you and you may want to take a look
http://www.stainglassshihtzu.citymax.com/page/page/351156.htm

Canidae is a good holistic food and you may want to continue using it. Canidae is particular good for the coat. As the heat, it will come at the age of 6 ~ 8 months or may be later depending on the dog and her health. Apart from vaccination records, ask the microchip number, deworming records and whether the pup has started on heartworm prevention program. Since the breeder has been keeping shih tzu, ask him for his advice on some grooming tips and way to care for your pup.

anyway, good luck to ya with the shih tzu!!! Cool I think most dogs will go on heat around 8 months but then i know of a dog that goes on heat every 4 months!!!!! Imagine what the owner will have to go thru'.

Wah.... a new shih tzu owner.... I have 4 dogs and one of them is a shih tzu, a 10 year old male hahahah....

It is best that you continue the diet till she reaches 7 months.... Personally, I still think a puppy should continue eating the dogfood till 7 months and then start eating some cooked and raw food....... my dogs are now on 70% cooked and 30% raw food.....

Ear drops are necessary for cleaning the ears once a week.... don't use water coz it may contain bacteria.... the ear drops are sterile and much gentler than water.....

She will get her heat maybe around 7 or 8 months, depending on her hormones lah... some dogs differ a bit...... you will notice her trying to clean her parts and later see some stains on the floor and on her fur around her area....

Get things from breeder like vaccination records, details about the sire and dam(health) and any allergies or food that should be avoided...

Grooming is easy for a puppy, just buy a metal tooth comb and comb her knots out everyday..... for bathing, use baby tearless shampoo if you are planning to wash the face area....

Willy, my beloved shih tzu (22 March 1994- 8 August 2005) May you rest and live happily in Rainbow Bridge with the rest. You will forever be deeply missed by all.

Puppies and kittens, helpless and innocent are always roaming the streets as strays. Adopt from animal shelthers to save them.

Hehehe, are you talking about my belle AngelicCrazy?

Hi Cnfs, nairud is right, you may like to post your questions to the right thread or different thread to get what you want to know Wink. I know about poodle, cocker and lab but not shih tze, that's why I can't give you any advice as well.

Maybe you can use the powerful search tool located at the top right menu to search for the info that you needed Wink, good luck and happy searching!
