Theme: Animals & Vets: Up, Close and Personal
Date: July 2-4, 2004
Time: 9am-5pm
Venue: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang
Entrance: it's for everyone! i.e. public and it's free! yup u dun hv to pay a single sen


hi everyone!
I just wanted to inform all you animal lovers out there that my fac, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in UPM, will be organising an open day on July 2-4. Yup, it's in a few weeks time!

On these three days there'll be tons of stuff like horse rides, carnival games, talks, exotic animal exhibition plus we'll be opening our labs here for the public to see! Not forgetting too, we'll be having free examinations for your pets!

Actually, the main reason why we wanna hold this open day is to raise awareness on wat we vets (altho I'm still only a student) actually do and also to tell ppl bout the importance of animal conservation and (humane) treatment.

So make sure you have your dates free for these days and head on over to UPM. Hope to see u guys there!

since u r UPM student... if we wanna go jogging at the Bukit Ekspo... can we bring along our doggie ... will be allowed or not.. since dogathon also always being held there.. hope u can help lah

You mean the pet examinations are free? How bout reptiles? I have a star tortoise with a problem and no vet around seems to know how to treat them....... So these 3 days we are allowed to bring our pets lah.....

yuanyuan: yup you can take your doggie there for a checkup no problem!
as for jogging with ur dog at the bukit expo we are not too sure cos we
are allowed to bring dogs there during Dogathon only.


crazymouse_yyh: sorry to tell you but the pet examinations are mainly focused on dogs and cats only.
you can try bringing ut tortoise but we won't be able to guarantee if you'll
get what u want. but if you have any dogs or cats u can bring them:)


jglee: yup ur bullmastiff can come. just make sure if it is not very friendly that
u have it properly restrained

Oh ok... I just wanted to know if you guys there know how to treat reptiles so I can bring my tortoise some other day... coz I've been to a vet and he just gave a calcium jab and some mineral powder and its didn't solve my tortoise's problem lah..... Do you think the zoo vets treat reptile pets?

I might be going to the open day and I'll bring my dog tooSmile

I think that our clinic do treat reptiles. you're most welcome to bring them.

Heheh... of course! I'll always bring my Willy kai kai, he must experience these good things before age makes him weak.... Oh, I don't think I cango to the jungle trekking this week coz my dad is in Sabah so I have to help my mom jaga the dogs hahaha.... maybe next week?

Glad to hear that ur university will be organizing such an event. Its really rare to have one in this country. U must be a vet(student) too right? Our ppl really need to know more bout the "importance of animal conservation and (humane) treatment juz like u mentioned above". Heard that their knowledge bout this stuffs is almost equal to zero.Well Mark, i hope that i too can participate in this event.(Juz discovered this section after looking tru this forum for a few weeks-still more to read) I am not sure wether i can make it as i have my midterm test on the 3rd of july.I'll try on sunday.

Well juz when i am deciding about it, u came bySmile. I juz want to ask u a question. Since u r a veterinarian student, i think its best to ask u. What do you think about being a Vetenarian?I wish to ask u more but i am scared that i will be punish for posting in the wrong section of forums. So can i email u regarding this? or can i actually post here so other ppl can view it too?

If i can make it to the fair, then its better,maybe we can exchange views on itCool
