my senior girl crackers (either 12-14 years as her ex owner ciuld not confirm her age) collapsed yesterday. thereafter she drooled and could not control her urine...could not walk either. not her usual loving self. i did not even get my kiss when i saw her!
sent her to the vet.
checked and said negative for heart worm but mentioned that her herat was weak and irregular. also noted that she has an infection on her left gum. sent us home after a jab for antibiotics and iron.

one vet asked us to put her down since she has epilepsy that causes her to collapse and her heart to fail.
this morning her pee was reddish but he is adamant that it is not renal failure.
i am taking her to upm as recommended by some members and also my security breeder friend. will see what they say. over the phone the guy said to bring her in first to check before deciding whteher to euthanise or not. i think so too. I AM SO SAD...damm....i cried so much today...
to update accordingly. pls keep us in ur prayers. thanx!!

we are still waiting for her results that would take a couple of days more. the earlier medication seems to have brought down the swollen heart a little. but her heart beat is still weak and irregular. plus she pants a lot too.
now they suspect the brains...but will confirm with me tomorrow or monday.
now she seems a little more interested in ehr surrounding although she is still very quiet unlike her normal self. she pants so much that we have to force her to sit still...by sitting next to her lor. i sent my overnight clothes to my aunt's place to make her a new bed. she likes it....a few others would be sending over their last slept in tshirts from us and aust for her....making plans to come home sooner than expected to see the grand old lady...even upm has warned me that if her next seizure is serious...she may just leave us...and all of us have grown so attached to her....

getting better (i hope)...she is on antibiotics for her possible brain infecyion and also some drugs for a possible brain abscess.
she is easily tired these days, but the fact that she could recognise all of us was such a relief and teh fact we do not see any seizures....but sakit hati lar thinking of all the drugs that she has to take.

she is doing good...thanx...
just that we are having some tech prob with her diet. her vet thinks we should not be doing teh zen but instead stick on to h/d or k/d. prob is we can't find h/d...
and i am more imprseed with the alternative diets rather than the commercial ones...the only one i know who encouraged the zen / alternative is a vet friend in aust. sigh...i am not sure what to do....

hmm..i think the main thing now is do you see any improvements on the diet that you're giving crackers? if you can see improvement then stick to the current diet. if not, you can ask your aust friend for advice on the alternative diet.

hmmm...she is still on the medication. so really hard to say....
but i find that she is as alert as her good old self.....and she definitely enjoys her meals more as well. so macam mana?
our aussie friend recommends h/d...but says that he thinks that there is no harm in trying the alternative diets too. he has seen some of the animals under his care respond well to alternative diets.

hmm...maybe right now you stick to the current diet first and observe more. and in the meantime, discuss with your aussie friend on the h/d..see if you can give crackers any supplements before trying more of the h/d. i think alternative diets are good too...so i would encourage you to give it a try.
