Do they recognise their own breed? Can't Post

While reading some of the posts here it suddenly came to me....do dogs actually recognise their own breed when they see one? Or to a dog males are males and females are just females....if they do recognise their own breed, how? Through smell? Or visual? Although maybe visual is less likely as they won't know how they look like themselves, will they? Hhmmm......anyone has any clue?
